Valentine took a deep breath and stared into the purple light of the portal. Then, she stepped into the purple light, letting the color engulf her. The angel felt a puff of air, wind spirits removing her wings and halo. So this is Earth, she thought. The land was barren for miles. Not quite what she had expected, but she already loved Earth anyway. Clouds circled overhead, and a small bird flew onto her head.

Sakiko was reading a book. She put the book down on her bedside. I'm so bored. But dad won't let me out of the castle. She thought. And I can't break his rules. She thought.

Nero was sitting silently on the ground, trying to relax himself. He breathed in then out. In. Out. Nero got up and walked through the alley he was sitting in when a bright purple portal appeared beside him, causing him to jump. A girl stepped out, a bird flying and landing gracefully in her head.

"Hey!" a voice called. "You know you aren’t allowed to be out after eight P.M., right?" Valentine scowled at the silhouette. "I’m an adult," she said, no emotion in her voice except for raw anger. Her cloak (which was now purple, thanks to the portal) swirled behind her as she walked away. What type of wasteland is this place? she complained in her mind. The same thought echoed for minutes until she couldn’t stand it. Valentine cried aloud, "Why must I be limited to trudging along in Earth like this?" People gave her weird glances, but she didn’t care. Finally, she guiltily broke down and sobbed behind the disguise of the moon. The purple portal she had come from was nowhere in sight, which didn’t calm her frayed nerves at all.

Nero saw the girl break down and cry. But he want using attention to that. He was paying attention to the fact that she had a halo and wings before they got taken away. She was an Angel. And he knew what she had. Something that could help him in his quest to take over the world. He silently made his way towards her.
