Flightkit did the same, listening eagerly.
Blackears looked down. "Well, we could sneak out tonight. I know a place..." -
Windkit could hear talking, but the cats inside were speaking softly. She huffed. "I can't hear good! Do you think Whisperheart and Gooseberry are talking? I know Whisperheart's been feeling a bit ill lately, she told me so."
Honeysuckle perked up. "Really? I-I'd like that," she said with a purr, before glancing off to the side. "I mean, um, yeah, sure." -
"Maybe. Hmm we could try spying on the leader."
"Ok. Meet by the abandoned fox den a little ways away from where our borders meet, you'll see it in the unknown territories." -
Windkit bounced up and down excitedly. "Ooh, sure! Let's-" she paused when a cat's shadow loomed over her. "Uh oh."
Honeysuckle nodded with a smile. "I'll see you there." -
Flightkit squeaked and ran behind Windkit.
Blackears shifted his paws. "I'll go cover the evidence and say the fox was elsewhere. We should probably be heading back to our camps." He mewed. -
"Spy on Raggedstar, you say?" Tawnyhawk said, raising one eyebrow. "You're lucky that I'm just the warrior, not deputy like Leafdance."
Honeysuckle nodded, hesitating to go. She swished her long, golden tail and padded off into the undergrowth. -
Flightkit poked her head out. "You could, uh, come with us, Tawnyhawk, maybe?" She squeaked out.
He traced the fox scent to its den, off the territory, and quickly wrapped some dung in a leaf and carried it to the site of the attack, covering his scent and the blood in the fox dung. -
Tawnyhawk shook his head disapprovingly, although chuckling. "I'll leave you two for now. But be careful, and mind yourself. I can only imagine the tongue lashing your mother Woodpecker would give you."
A small squeak came from under the leaves in the fox's den, and a bushy red tail swished. -
Flightkit shrugged and turned to Windkit. “Cmon, let’s go, let’s go!”
-
Windkit scampered away, eager to get away from Tawnyhawk. "That was close!" she hissed.
A fox cub peeked out from under the leaves, skittering away. -
He heard a squeak in the distance and froze, hurrying with his work of covering evidence.
-
The fox cub watched Drakestorm hesitantly, its dark beady eyes fixing on him as it quivered.
