"I won’t," he told her. "Well… actually, I can’t guarantee that I won’t." He smiled at her. "But don’t worry." Lucien opened the car door and stepped outside into a meadow. He spread his arms and waited for her to come out. "Do you like it?" Lucien asked.

“Considering I just met you, this seems a little strange. But I kind of like it.” Angelica said, stepping out of the vehicle and sucking in a breath.

Lucien inclined his head. "It does still seem strange, even for me." He heaved a sigh.

She raised an eyebrow. “You kidnapped me, also not to mention shot me.” She said.

"It was an accident," Lucien told her. "Also, I think you should go now, love." He said the word love with difficulty, as if he got stabbed in the gut every time he said it.

“I can go free?” She asked, a little uncertain by the heater. Angelica gave him a sympathetic glance and slowly turned around to walk away.
