Kerala was blissfully forgetful, a skill and a curse. The thought of Seamus disappearing was at the back of her mind and she was just enjoying some time with a friend.
"I probably should have gotten things less sweet," she said thoughtfully. "But those things looked so good." -
"I must not have much of a sweet tooth," Seamus said.
-
"Maybe you have a fried tooth," Kerala said, before scrunching up her nose. "That sounds wrong."
(I remember you said that and I was like fRiEd ToOtH??) -
Seamus just looked at her in confusion. "A fried tooth?"
-
"Meaning that you'd like fried stuff," Kerala said. "We're going to have to test out lots of stuff!"
-
"And I have a vague feeling I'm going to be stuffed within the hour," Seamus said.
-
"You thought right," Kerala said, waggling her eyebrows mischievously. "Come on, let's go get something for lunch. I'm starved."
-
Seamus pulled himself out of the chair and followed her out the door.
-
-
Kerala popped the umbrella open, holding over Seamus's head more than her one. She got half-soaked, but it was worth it.
-
Seamus guided the umbrella to go over the both of them. "The wet is miserable, and I want you anything but."
-
The umbrella was small and Kerala knew it. "Always the gentleman," she said with a smirk. "Don't worry, I can handle it. I've lived my whole life in this marsh of a town."
-
"Hey, I'm not paper anymore," Seamus said with a faint smile on his face. "I can get wet."
-
"Better me than you," Kerala said, brushing her hair back as it threatened to frizz up and sighed. "I should have brought my rain coat."
-
"How long until we arrive?" Seamus asked, changing the subject.
