Turner felt his face flush, his cheeks turning red and as warm as a fire. He bit the inside of his cheek before nodding his head verrry slowly.
“Y-Yes, goodnight, Callyn.” Turner squeaked in an unnaturally high-pitched tone that was usually reserved for his harder songs. He leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on her cheek in return, wishing to return the blessing. -
Callyn went to her room, a giddy grin on her face. She changed into her pajamas consisting of a tank top and sweat pants, then went to sleep, ready for whatever the next day would bring her.
-
The next day, he phone was full of notifications. There were about fifty pings she had received on each social media platform, and that wasn’t counting her email which had received over a hundred pieces of mail.
All of this would’ve been flattering had all of it not been hate mail. -
When Callyn checked her phone that morning she stared at how many notifications she had in shock. She'd never been contacted so much. Had something terrible happened overnight? But when she opened all the messages she felt stunned and scared by the messages she had received. Some were a few sentences of insults, some were two paragraphs. Some simply said how she shouldn't be with Turner, how she doesn't deserve them. And others were threats. Threats to burn down her house, threats to make her life horrible and render her jobless and living on the streets, even some death threats.
Callyn felt tears falling down her face at their cruel words. How had they even gotten her information? Why were they saying things like this? What had she done? Did they mean any of it?
Callyn wiped her tears with a sigh and put her phone in the pocket of her sweatpants. She walked out of her room and went into the kitchen, avoiding eye contact with Turner so he wouldn't see her red puffy eyes. -

Turner was whistling a cheery tune, not noticing Callyn’s sudden presence in the kitchen. He was holding a frying pan in his palms, currently having tasked himself with flipping pancakes and cooking scrambled eggs. When he finally sensed her presence, he didn’t turn around to face her lest his eggs and pancakes got burned.
“Ah, good morning, my dearest! As a way to make you feel better about what took place last night, I’ve decided to make you breakfast. Do you want cheese in your eggs or would you prefer them bare?” -
"Cheese is good," Callyn said quietly because of her recently crying her throat out, but also trying to sound lighthearted to make up for it. "And you shouldn't apologize. None of it was your fault."
Her phone pinged with a few notifications. Callyn didn't get notifications often so she knew exactly what those pings were, more negative messages. She'd ignore them, though. -
Turner blinked before very slowly turning around to face Callyn. Because her back was turned to him, he couldn’t see her face, but he sensed something was wrong.
Very wrong.
“Callyn,” Turner’s voice was quiet and stern. “Callyn, hand me your phone.” -
Just then ten more notifications came in. Callyn hesitated for some reason, then unlocked her phone and handed it to Turner, not looking at him.
-
Turner scrolled through her phone, silent the entire time, his face remaining blank. Finally, after a few minutes of dreadful silence, he spoke.
“When did you start getting these texts?” -
"I woke up to them," Callyn said. "Hundreds of them. I don't know how they got my information either."/
-
Turner wasted no time in tossing the phone into the trash, mumbling something about how he’ll just buy Callyn a new phone so she wouldn’t have to deal with spammers on her old one. He looped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to his chest, slowly rocking back and forth with her.
“Oh, Callyn. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I know how ruthless some fans can be, but this…. this is just unforgivable!” Turner said softly, his tone of voice turning slightly more aggressive as he uttered the word ‘unforgivable.’ His eyes softened as he looked down at Callyn. -
"Turner it's ok," Callyn whispered but she readily accepted his hug. She would just live with the words just like she had done her entire life.
