They had also put the wheelchair in the trunk of the car.
Callyn reached over with her left arm, her good one, and buckled herself up. She had to fumble a little, but she did it. -
Turner started driving.

A bit later, they arrived.
Turner was pushing her around in her wheelchair. She opened the front door and Callyn reached over and turned on the lights.
The house was still bare, but some changes had been made to it. In the living room there were a few chairs that she had found on the side of the road for free. In the kitchen were buckets of ice that were acting as a refrigerator. There was a card table in the dining room with a few folding chairs. The bedroom had a sleeping bag instead of a bed, and so on.
All they were really there for were her clothes, which were right next to the sleeping bag. -
Shame pooled at the bottom of Turner's stomach. He knew that he had made Callyn work countless hours just to get enough money to pay bills. If she had stayed at his house, there wouldn't be any worries about that.
But he had kicked her out, forcing her to work her hardest.
It broke Turner's heart to think about that. -
Callyn was able to reach down herself and grab her bags.
"Can we go to Mamita's tonight?" she asked. "Just to, you know, celebrate getting out of the hospital." -
"Sounds good to me," Turner said, wheeling Callyn out of the house.

Once they were on their way back to Turner's house, Callum suddenly realized something. "Does Alex know why I haven't been in?"

"Yeah, I told him about it," Turner said.

"Thanks," she said.
When they got to Turner's house, they had a couple hours to kill before suppertime. -
"Wanna go swimming?" Turner asked, forgetting that Callyn couldn't swim at the moment.

"I do, but I can't," she said.

The realization registered in Turner’s head. Like how gears turned in a clock.
"O-oh! I forgot. Sorry about that." Turner chuckled. -
"Don't worry," Callyn said. "How about we watch a movie?"

"Perfect." Turner said happily. "Any suggestions?”

"What do you have?" she asked.
