Sophia shook her head. I'm guessing the walls didn't let any sound through," she said.

"There've been a ton of thunderstorms in my life, and probably in yours too, so that’s probably the case," Weddell concluded.
(Weddell sounds wimpy, I love that name) -
Suddenly there was a pattering sound everywhere. "What's that?" she asked.

“Exactly what I’ve been teaching you about. Rain,” Weddell said.

"It sounds nice," Sophia thought aloud.

“It really does. It’s very calming when you’re not standing in it,” Weddell agreed.

"Is it like a shower?" Sophia asked.

"Yes," Weddell said, grimacing. "It's just a very dirty shower."

"Our showers were every other day, three minutes long with ice-cold water," Sophia said.

"I guess rain isn’t so bad for you, then. It does make a very nice sound, though," Weddell mused.

Sophia nodded in agreement. "Books described showers as warm, though," she said.

"Sometimes showers are warm, sometimes they're cold. But warm showers feel better than cold showers." Weddell obviously thought Sophia had a lot to learn, but was putting up with her lack of knowledge. -
Sophia nodded in understanding. "I'm sorry you have to explain everything to me," she murmured.
