“I won’t be able to see, plus you know how dangerous it is at nighttime! Thats when all the creatures come out.” She said, shuddering at the thought of encountering one.

"I can escort you at night if you’d like. I can see very well in the dark and have a flashlight, but otherwise, you should stay till morning,” Avron offered.

“I would like that.” She said, offering him a small smile.

Avron blinked, puzzled. Nobody had smiled at him in his entire life. "Well, let's go," he said as he pocketed a flashlight. "Out the window."

“How long do you think it’s going to take?” She asked as she climbed up the windowsill.

"'Til dawn, maybe? I think we can get there at midnight if we push ourselves." Avron opened a different window and jumped straight out of it. Although he had opened most of it, you could still hear glass breaking. "Tsk," he muttered. "Let's go," he motioned, waiting for Yuri. -

“Did I mention I was scared of heights?” She said. She was looking out the window nervously. -

"Just jump and get it over with. Spreading your wings as you fall slows your descent. Maybe you can take off before your feet even hit the ground," Avron reassured her from below. -
Yuri took a deep breath and jumped. She started flapping her wings and was flying before she even touched the ground. “Hey, that worked!” She exclaimed excitedly to Avron.

"Nice, but keep it down," Avron said so she could barely make out what he was saying but could manage.

“Do you have a flashlight?” She asked. She pulled out one of her own.

"Yes, I do," Avron said, emptying his pocket and shining the flashlight in Yuri's face teasingly. -
