"Couldn't sleep," Alex said with a shrug. "I was too nervous to sleep but it's all good now. You're Elise, right? Am I remembering correctly?"
-
Elise nodded, squeezing her lips together. “Mhm, that’s me,” she said lowly. “We haven’t even said a word to each other since before graduation, have we?” She asked.
-
Alex thought for a moment. "Goodness gracious you're right!" he said with a bit of a nervous laugh. "Guess we have some things to catch up on."
-
“Would it be embarrassing if I told you I don’t remember your name?” Elise smiled shyly. She sighed, realizing it had been a long time since she spoke to anyone, especially after her mother’s death.
-
He smiled. "Alex," he said. "Maybe we should just start over and stop trying to remember things about the other."
-
Elise chuckled, “I assume that would be more ideal.” Her smile was genuine this time.
Suddenly, little drops of water began to fall from the sky, and quickly grew faster. “Oh dear,” Elise mumbled, covering her head with her hands. -
-
(Sorry)
Alex took off his jacket and held it over the both of them. "Shall we head back or travel on?" he asked. -
Elise blushed as Alex placed his jacket over her shoulders. “Travel forward,” she answered with confidence. “I think we could both use a little exploration in the rain.”
-
*above not over oops
-
The jacket held out the rain surprisingly well. "Onward it is," Alex said and he started walking down the sidewalk in pace with Elise.
-
“So I know this beautiful place,” Elise started. She was still giggling for whatever reason. “If you’d like to go there.”
-
"Sounds great," Alex said with a smile. "Lead the way."
-
Elise smiled as she continued walking. During their walk, it was silent. She assumed Alex was soaking in nature's beauty, just as she was.
Finally, they came to a dead end, which led to a dense amount of trees. It merely looked like an ordinary, abandoned forest, but it was much more than that.
“I hope you don’t mind being pricked by a few thorns,” Elise said slyly. -
"Depends," Alex said. "How long are these thorns and how stuck will they be in my skin?"
