Clarissa sighed and seemed to shake away her emotions. "So what do we do now?" she asked.

Neptune glanced over her, before asking; "Are you hungry? I know a few trees that provide very good fruit."

Clarissa shook her head. "I couldn't eat," she said.

"Oh, well, lucky for you, I have a spare apple I had washed earlier in a lake in my bag. It's too late to go searching for food right now, since the robbers are probably out by now. Or the serial killers. Or the thiefs. Or the karens. Or the kens." -
Clarissa looked up at him. "How long have you been out here dealing with this?" she asked.

"Not too long," He admitted, glancing down at his feet. "My father died recently, and my mother turned into a monster. I ran into the streets, and, ever since then, I've been living out here. It's been about a year or two."

"That's awful!" Clarissa said. After a moment she said, "So tell me, are you the only good guy out here?"

"I'm not the only one," He smiled generously. "I know there's more kindhearted people out here."

"Can I meet them?" Clarissa asked.

"So far I've only met two, but yeah! Of course you can!" Neptune cheerfully said with optimism, jumping up.

"Are they usually out this late at night?" she asked.

"No, not usually." He sighed. "They're usually out during daylight. Night is too dangerous for most people, but if you're careful, you might just survive its deadly grasp."
