Luckily Tessa lived a ways away from the Royal Forest. but she didn't know how far she'd have to go. Most people went into these woods too, looking for food. Tessa was glad to find a mulberry bush. She ate a few, enjoying the flavor as they burst inside her mouth.
Tessa was surprised when a horse galloped into the clearing she was in, making worried and scared horse noises (can't remember what they're called lol).
The horse started running back from where it was coming from, almost as if it wanted Tessa to follow. So she did. She ran as fast as she could, following the horse. -
Mallow led the girl back to where Luka lay, trembling, in the shadow of a huge brown bear. His crossbow lay yards away from him, forgotten. He crawled backward, trying to find cover, but the bear lashed out and effortlessly threw him across the clearing, hitting his head on a rock.
-
(I kind of like that name for a horse)
The bear, seeming to be done with its mission, grumbled away from the young man. When the bear was out of sight she rushed to where she was, concerned. -
Luka groaned and looked up into the face of the girl. In his groggy, state, he muttered confusedly, "Celestia? Dear sister, what are you doing up at this hour?"
-
Tessa could tell he was some sort of noble based on the way he talked and his clothes. She looked around and realized she didn't recognize this part of the forest. And the fact that there was someone from nobility there also made her realize something. She was on the King's land. She was trespassing.
She knew she could give him better care at her home than she could here. She also knew he'd get better treatment than she could ever give at wherever he came from.
She looked down at him. She was still going to try and help him. "I'm not Celestia, I'm Tessa," she said. "Can you get up?" -
Luka shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. "Wait a moment. You're not Celestia!" He frowned. "The bear. Oh..." He blinked. "I apologize, Miss Tessa."
(Waiteth a moment! thou art not mine own sist'r! i apologizeth, Misseth Tessa. I might not but've been did confuse. Mine own h'rse ranneth. Has't thee seen that gent?)
Teehee)) -
(Oh my XD)
(You are way better than Spice)
Tessa was surprised. A noble being polite to her? This was completely out of the ordinary. They all saw the serfs and peasants as dirt and worms. "Uh..Can you stand?" she repeated. -
:D))
Luka nodded. "I was confused. My horse ran." He looked around. "Have you seen him?" Luka braced himself against a tree and shakily stood up. "Ow." -
"He's right over there," Tessa said, pointing. "He led me to you. You should go back home." She looked around. She hoped there weren't any Foresters (guards that patrol the forest for trespassers, poachers, etc.) near or on her way back.
-
Luka followed her gaze. "I don't quite think I can," he gestured to his chest, which was bloodied by the bear's claws. "It doesn't hurt very much, though. Barely a scratch, I say."
-
"Well, can you get on your horse?" Tessa asked. "He'll know the way home. You won't have to struggle much. I - I have to go."
-
Luka paused. "Why? You cannot help me?" He winced slightly and touched his hand to his side. It came away red. He forced a smile. "Perhaps a bit more than a scratch."
-
"This is the King's land, I'm not supposed to be here," Tessa said. "If I'm caught - "
-
Luka's eyes widened. "Oh. I see." He paused to consider. "If you help me, I'll see to it that you and your family remain safe." He tilted his head. The prince had no idea what horrors happened to those who trespassed. He just assumed they received a warning, is all.
-
Tessa looked at him. "That's something along the lines of what they told my brother before they chopped his hands off," she said bitterly. "My family is dead."
