"Just the classics when I was little," Vivian said. "Like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Red Rose and Snow White, so on."
She thought for a moment, then. "There was one story, though," she said. "My mom said that grandma told it to her also. I don't remember it, though." -
(bump)
-
"I know about those. They are actually true tales, you know.. Though, the names are all wrong. And there's definitely some human aspects slapped into them. Still!" Harper tilts his head at the second part. "Huh.. Interesting. If you ever remember, I'd love to hear what that one was about."
-
(Red Rose and Snow white is one of my favorite stories)
Vivian scoured her brain, trying to remember what it was about, but she couldn't. It was as if something was blocking the memory. -
-
(I love them toooo, omg.. been a few years since I read them though)
When Vivian was quiet for quite some time, Harper piped back up, not wanting to lose the momentum of the chat. "Maybe some other day, then. I'm sure you probably have your brain stuffed full of your writing ideas, right?" -
Vivian smiled. "Perhaps I shall," she said. They arrived at the stand that Harper had mentioned before.
-
The stand had a wide assortment of fresh-baked goods and other sweets: donuts, churros, macarons, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, even funnel cake. Harper turned his attention to the stand, excited. "Anything grabbing your attention?"
-
Vivian was eyeing the funnel cake. She hadn't had that in forever and from what she remembered it was delicious. "The funnel cake looks good," she said.
-
Harper sort of danced over to the stand, producing a pouch from his pocket. His tail swished as he moved. He nodded to the funnel cakes, saying, "Two of those, please." The baker served up two funnel cakes and stabbed plastic forks into them.
Harper paid the baker and pocketed the pouch, grabbing the plates carefully. He then turned Vivian, holding a plate out to her. "Here you go!" -
Vivian smiled as she took the plate. "Thank you," she said. She took a bit and grinned. They were delicious.
-
"No problem." Harper smiled, taking a bite out of his. He nodded towards an empty bench. "Shall we sit?"
-
"Okay," Vivian said as she sat on the left side of the bench.
-
Harper sat on the right side, making sure to give Vivian some space so she'd be comfortable. He ate in silence for a moment, surveying their surroundings. "..Am I your first encounter with a magical being?" He asked finally, glancing over at her. "I mean.. You've never seen anything odd other than me, right?"
-
"I mean, I have seen some odd things in my life," Vivian said, "but nothing like you. Nothing magical."
