"Ember, what's your last name?" Ivy asked, as a list of names were being read.
Oasis watched the proceedings with awe. "I remember when we were this little," she commented. "I was so excited."
"And hungry," Chris interjected. "I could hear your stomach growling from where I was."
"Shh!" Oasis said. "That's not the point." -
"Sparks," Ember said. "My last name's Sparks. What's yours?"

"Patterstone," Ivy said. "Does the Sorting go in alphabetical order by your last name, or your first name?"

Almond sat down among everyone else. I'll be proud to continue the like of Hufflepuffs! he thought, excited to get his house.

"No clue," Ember responded, "but if it does, we'll be towards the end." She yawned and stretched. "Might as well relax."
Hunter sighed mournfully. "When will the food come, I'm hunngryy!" He kicked his feet to try to focus on something other than the growling of his own stomach. -
Harbor let out a small squeak of a laugh before shutting her mouth and turning her head to the Sorting Hat. With a giggle, she cupped her hand and whispered to Oasis, “If my eyes are correct, that hat looks a bit battered.”
Grey glanced over at the others, “I’d say it looks crumpled.” -
Do the older kids still go to the Sorting to watch?))

Oasis laughed. "I wonder how it happened. Did someone just Frisbee it around the halls or something?"
"Okay," Ivy said breathlessly. "What if the Sorting Hat doesn't know where to put me?* -
Harbor laughed, “No, it isn’t flat enough to play frisbee with. Maybe football!” She said, in a humorous tone.

Chris coughed loudly to cover up a huge coughing fit. He could hear them over the rowdy Gryffindors at his table.

Autumn stroked Shore as she sat down during the Sorting. There were so many people there, that she felt like she was choking.
