"We're gonna make new friends," Elytra said. "Won't that be fun?"

That was what Elytra hoped, at least. The guard opened a pair of oak doors and she tried to prepare herself.

Vrede watched curiously, his wings twitching

There were a motley bunch inside. They all appeared to be having fun, but still...Elytra turned to Vitalus. "I sure hope Fang shows up."

Vitalus tilted his head at her before nodding in agreement

Someone with dark brown hair and skin showed up, riding on a creature that looked like a feline bat. She landed in front of Elytra and Vitalus, assessing them.
"So, are you guys new here?" she asked.
"Pretty much," Elytra said.
The bat creature made a quiet crackling noise and peered at the new arrivals, Vitalus in particular. -
Vitalus hissed at the bat, ducking behind Elytra

The bat's ears pressed behind its head, and it darted behind its human.
"Vitalus, what is it?" Elytra said, concerned. The girl looked at her bat.
"He's probably scared of Jinx," she said, patting the bat's head. "She can be a bit intimidating." -
Vitalus flared his wings in response

The bat examined Vitalus for a moment, before imitating him, her eyes shining with a playful gleam.

Vitalus hissed again, buzzing his wings

Elytra stepped between the two, and at this point the others noticed the newbies. Creatures of all kinds watched, a few slightly timid after Vitalus's display.
"It's okay, Vitalus, she's just playful," Elytra reassured him. "I know this'll take some getting used to." -
Vitalus looked at her befpre calming down

"Uh, hi?" Elytra said, to the small crowd. They greeted her in reply and returned to their previous activities. "Whew. That was awkward."
