Airo nodded, stepping closer, and the dog slinked forward to sniff Jenna.

"What's wrong with him?" I asked Airo, nodding at the dog.

"I don't know," Airo said. "I've never seen him act like this around you. What's wrong, Anniyah?"

"I don't know," she said, still looking at the dog. "Anyway, I promised you a secret. You can't tell a single soul. If you do, I'll put mustard in everyone of your socks, and ketchup in your shoes."

Airo looked horrified. "I promise."

"I'm not really sick," Jenna said. "I'm faking. But you can't say a word. If I'm acting strangely, it's because I'm pretending to be sick."

Airo frowned. "You never pretend to be sick. What's wrong?"

"That is not the secret I was going to tell you, so I shall not say more beyond what I already have," Jenna said. "You know what'll happen if you breathe a word of this. I my even extend the punishment."

Airo nodded, and Anniyah's dog crept forward suspiciously, sniffing Jenna.

Jenna put her hand down, the back of her hand facing Anniyah's dog. If you put your hand for them with the palm facing the dog, then they'd see you as something not to be trusted, because you were showing them your claws. But if you did it the other way like Jenna was doing, then you were showing them that you're no threat.

The dog sniffed her hand and then obligingly sat nearby her, still looking up at her with confused eyes.
Airo looked confused. "Can you tell me what's going on?" -
Jenna bit her lip. "I'm sorry, I can't," she said. How would he ever be able to understand that she wasn't his sister? She looked down and the dog, and pet him. She messed with his collar a bit so that she could discretely find out his name. Doop. "What's wrong Doop?" she said. "Don't you trust me?"

Doop looked at Jenna suspiciously. Meanwhile, Airo looked disappointed. "Aw, c'mon! Why can't you tell me? You were going to."

"No, I wasn't," Jenna said, knowing the trick he was trying to play on her.

"Yes, you were," Airo said. "I know you were. You can trust me, I'm your brother!"
