Cameron stepped inside, dust swirling around his feet. He looked around at the crumbled remains of furniture, and saw a moth eaten doll on the ground.
"Hey, check this out," he told Brynn, nudging the doll with his foot. -
Amelia walked in. She was excited. She peered at the doll, her imagination doing its job. "I dread to think what could have eaten it," she said, smiling. "Perhaps a vampire . . . no . . . who knows?

He kicked it under a molding couch. "Well, I don't want to see it anymore. It's weird." He heard a crunch from under his foot, and moved it to see broken glass. There was a picture of a family. He handed it to Amelia for her to look at.

Amelia took it, and cocked her head at it. The girls were in rich frilly dresses, and the boys were in their Sunday best. It was a curious thing, seeing the people that had once lived here.

Cameron heard a gentle swishing noise. He nudged Amelia excitedly. "Did you hear that?"

She gave a small shiver at the doll head, “Look.” She pointed to a larger painting of two children, the glass broken the painting torn. “Scary...” She saw a flash of white in the corner of her eye, “Uh...”

Cameron glanced at Brynn. "Are you already scared? That noise was probably a curtain or something. No need to worry."

"Just because people say that this place is haunted, doesn't mean that it actually is," Amelia said, carefully putting the picture on an end table. 'It's your imagination."

(Once, I thought about making a horror story where there was flashes of white, creaking noises, ransacked cabinets, and other stuff in a family's house. And then it turns out there's a stray cat wandering around the house.)
