“Um.. nobody!” Jonas pretended to laugh. He wrapped his arm around Rasia and rested his hand against her shoulder. “Now why don’t you.. nice young lady,” Jonas muttered that part. “Head on home,” he smiled and pushed her lightly into the opposite direction, facing the bus stop.
-
"Who were you running away from?" Rasia said in a more demanding and louder tone, taking a firm step to where she had previously been. "I have all the time in the world, so don't try to distract me to do something else."
-
Jonas bit his lip and stared at Rasia. “It’s really kinda sorta complicated,” he said, nodding his head. “Look, I gotta go..”
-
"We've been here for a while, and I have heard no other footsteps than ours." Honestly. Fall = Leaves. Leaves = Sound. Sound = Helpful hints to where your enemies are. "We're fine for now."
-
“We?” Jonas said, his eyebrows creasing again. He pointed back and forth between himself and Rasia. “There is no we.”
-
"No, you see, if you're in danger, that means that I'm also in danger, because of our close proximity to each other. We will both either stay and fight, or run. And either way, they will also be after me, because they've seen me with you. I will ask you once again. Who. Is. Chasing. You?"
-
“I don’t have time for this non-sense,” Jonas shook his head and chuckled at the girl. He took some steps forward, approaching the bus stop he had noticed earlier. There were people here, so maybe she wouldn’t beat him up.
-
Rasia pulled him back and twisted his arm behind his back. She held him there until the bus came, which wasn't very soon after. Then she released him.
-
Jonas looked away from her, gritting his teeth. When she released him, he rolled his eyes. If she weren’t a girl, he’d-
Jonas noticed the bus coming and he watched as the people got off and boarded. It had been so long since he had seen so many ordinary, happy people. He watched, almost in awe. It felt like hours inside his head. -
Rasia smirked noticing how absolutely exasperated and aggravated he was. But then she did hear something in the distance. People running towards this spot, they wouldn't be here for a bit, but they needed to leave. Her smirk turned into a frown. She grabbed his arm and started running, and said, "Let's go."
-
Being pulled out of his daze, Jonas groaned. “Wha?” He followed Rasia, his arm in hers.
-
"I heard whoever is going after you," Rasia said, still dragging him along, "They're still far away, though." She knew what he was about to say, but she didn't prevent him.
-
“I feel like I’ve been running all day!” Jonas shouted, his voice echoing in the woods. He collapsed onto the ground, pulling Rasia down with him. “Not now,” he said and turned over, closing his eyes peacefully. He felt so calm on the green grass.
-
"And yet a minute ago you were so keen on leaving so quickly." Rasia said. That wasn't exactly what she thought he'd say, but she knew it would be in resistance. "And from what I can tell, those people don't want to do any good with you, and you've probably led them to our exact location with your yelling."
-
“Oh shut up,” Jonas mumbled, his eyes still closed. “I haven’t slept in days,” he yawned. His hand gripped the grass, feeling the dew from earlier that morning.
