“...there’s no one to report him too. The entire top chain of command are in on it.” She mumbles quietly. The ghost hero shakes her head. “....I’ll stay here. But like I said, I’m not authorised to us even a little bit of my power, because they could be seen by the public as scary or dark. That’s why I had to stick by jolt’s side when they partner us, and why the media straight up thinks he’s my dad. I can’t use my powers to attack only support people.”
-
"Well, maybe the the chain of command is stupid and corrupted," Chiro notes, voicing his doubts about DG. "You should not hesitate to use your power if it helps to save and protect people, because that's what being a hero is all about. Forget the media, forget authorization, just do what you feel is right," Chiro says with passion.
"Guys! A van is pulling up!" Jolt runs into view, interrupting Chiro and Spectre's conversation. Chiro moves between him and Spectre and stares daggers at the electric hero. -
Spectre smiles at him, nodding and glad to finally have an adult she can trust. “ thank you Chiro!” She says, but her emotions dropped from her face when she sees Jolt.
Spectre then flies off towards the building, phasing through the wall and out towards the van -
"Don't engage with the terrorists until you have backup," Chiro says with a facepalm, echoing his own words from earlier, but Spectre was already gone. He couldn't just let a 15 year old do this on her own though. "Jolt, you stay here," Chiro instructs. "Why? Since when were you the leader?" Jolt asks in agitation.
"I don't have time to argue with you," Chiro says simply, then summons 4 hands to hold Jolt down. "What the Hell man? Are you betraying DG right now?!" Jolt asks in surprise. Chiro doesn't answer, just runs to aid Spectre.
Meanwhile, the van's side door slides open and out piles 5 people of various heights, sizes, and genders. They all wore masks that resembled animals, and weapons of different kinds. One even looked like he held a bomb. -
Spectre was hidden from sight, as they’re halfway faced from the terrorists. The young hero puts a hand out, and lays a psychic net, to hopefully trap the terrorists
-
The terrorists try to continue into the building, but they are stopped by what seems to be an invisible net. "Darlene, what's happening?" One of them asks the other, who seems to be the leader. "How many times do I have to tell you that we have code names for a reason?" Darlene facepalms. She puts her hand on the invisible net and shakes her head. "Heroes," she says the word like it was poison. "They're on our trail. Initiate Plan B," Darlene commands.
One of the terrorists opens the van and pulls out a tied up teen girl, who looked terrified. "We have a hostage! Come out come out wherever you are, heroes!" He shouts, pointing a gun at the girl's head.
Chiro catches up with Spectre just in time to see the scene playing out. "I'll summon some hands to snatch their weapons away," Chiro says to Spectre. -
Spectre nods. “ I...I can do something.” She mumbles. “ watch over my body” the poltergirl says to Chiro, as she leaves her body and possesses the terrorist holding the gun. She secretly begins to untie the girl honking about when she was ten and in this position herself,
-
Chiro stays where he is to watch over Spectre's uninhabited body. He raises his arm and summons 5 hands to snatch the weapons from all of the terrorists, and he made the hands holding the weapons float well above them so that they couldn't use them.
"What the hell?" Darlene says when her and all of her comrades weapons are snatched from their hands. Her face pales when she realizes Chiro was somewhere nearby, a well known hero. "Gary what are you doing!" She screeches when she notices him undoing the hostage's knots. Darlene groans. Chiro AND someone else? They didn't stand a chance! "Plan C! Plan C!" Darlene barks at someone next to her. -
Spectre quickly rips of the girls bindings, before she kicks Darlene in the chest. The poltergirl switches to possess the body of the person standing next to Darlene, waiting to see how Darlene would react.
-
Darlene is tossed to the ground, and she coughs as she stands back up, the air having been knocked out of her. "The heroes are running circles around us, and someone is possessing people!" Darlene says with a gravelly tsk. She's never heard of a hero with this kind of power, it spelled big trouble. This hijack was in shambles.
Darlene was not the type to say this, but it had to be done; "Retreat! Retreat!" She commanded. The terrorists all ran for the van, save for the person who was just next to her. "Who are you?" Darlene asks, though it's more like a demand. She's in a fighting stance, despite not being armed anymire. -
“....someone you wouldn’t know” spectre says as she uses their powers to levitate the rope and handcuffs she had in her bag, using it to incapacitate Darlene, before handcuffing her.
Spectre stands on guard waiting to see what would happen -
Darlene, now tied up, falls to her knees. "C'mon, hero. Your whole gig is helping people and yet you don't even know about the corruption the place you work was built on," Darlene says. The van revs up and begins to drive off and leave Darlene behind. She rolls her eyes, not surprised at the betrayal.
"Bet you're just like the rest. What did they tell you we were? Arsonists? Terrorists? You believe them without question and lock us up before hearing our side of the story," Darlene is struggling to get out of the handcuffs, but to no avail. Chiro stops the van, summoning about 5 more hands (I never mentioned it, but the hands he summons are very strong) to block it off from moving forward. -
“...Then why?” Spectre asks calmly. “ explain yourself before the police show up....you had a hostage...and planned to steal important documents, at best your misguided freedom fighters and at worst,,,terrorists,”
-
"The hostage thing was just a ploy in case we ran into heroes and needed leverage. She's actually my niece. Come on out, hun!" Darlene calls. The girl, who was hiding behind a bench, stands up. "Sorry auntie, I didn't know whether I should stay in character and run or try to help you," she says timidly.
"Don't worry, you did great!" Darlene says encouragingly before going on, "The gun we had on her was empty too, I would never put her in danger. As for the documents.. haha, you call them documents then? You don't even know what we're specifically trying to steal? Brainwashed, the lot of ya heroes are. Those documents were files. Files of receipts, letters, paperwork. DG files about how DG have been doing under the radar things, like having super-powered kids mysteriously disappear and then a hero emerges a few years later with the same powers. Or taking over people's neighborhoods looking for god knows what. Taking over MY neighborhood!" Darlene spat on the ground angrily. -
“...So it’s a good thing I have these documents then. And I’ll be going through each and every last one of them to verify your claims.” Spectre says having still had the documents, just in her apartment.
“...though, I...do you know...I’m sorry but have you ever heard of a child with powers like mine?” Spectre asks the woman.
She barley remembered who she was before she was ‘ rescued’ by jolt.
“...They’d have been about fifteen now.” She says
