Plot
A group of friends decide to go on a cruise during their summer vacation to relax and let off some steam from the brutal school season. Halfway to their first destination, the captain exclaims that there is strange weather approaching. Before they know it, the group is being thrown into the seas.
Luckily, they all survive and end up on the shore of an odd-looking beach. As they begin to explore and try to figure out what happened to the ship, they encounter enthralling creatures and strange people. Soon, they discover that they are no longer on earth; the storm was a magical disturbance that purposefully brought them to this land.
When they first arrive at a village, a masked person attacks them. The villagers protect the young adults, barely managing to fend the stranger off. There, the group discovers that they are being hunted; humans from Earth have a magical essence that is rich and rare in this world. Their magic cannot be used on Earth; however, if the group decides to face the danger and learn how to use their magic, they could potentially become the most powerful people in this new world.
The only downside is that their magic is harvestable if the right (or, rather, wrong) person is present. And, to make it worse, the magic is infused with their souls. If the evil group attempting to hunt them down succeed, the young adults may wind up dead before they can make it home.
Will the teens be able to unleash their magic, restore peace to this magical world, and return home? Or will they be slaughtered for their magic, never getting the chance to go back and see their families again?
Character Sheet
Note: Because you can decide whether or not your character can "unlock" their magic later in the story, I'm going to leave "magic" or "abilities" off of the sheet. This way, it'll be a surprise as to what magic they'll gain.

Oh, crap, I forgot another note. These characters should be eighteen (18) or older since they're high school (secondary school) graduates. Think of regular ages for new college or university students.

Name: Kira Willis
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Appearance: Click me!
Personality: Stubborn, witty, hard-working. Kira strives to be above average, although she doesn't force herself to be "the best." She will debate her way out of (and into) everything. If given a task, she will finish it, even if it's something she despises. Many consider her to be a trustworthy friend.
Brief History: She was born in England, but was brought to America as a young child. She struggled to keep up with studies and was harassed by many children over her accent. Rather than letting this get to her, she worked hard to do better in school. When Kira finally got into high school, she made a lot of good friends that stuck with her. She chose to go to college with them, rather than go back to England and move back to her hometown.
Other: Constantly in a state of sleepiness. Will never say no to a nap. -
Do they all have to have gone to high school together?
-
Nah, they can also have met off-campus. Childhood friends, for example. I'm not too picky about the amount of time that they've known each other.
-
Is it okay if my guy just knows these people from college because he immigrated post-high school? Or should he be a born and bred Murican?
-
Hey there
What's up
Can I join? -
You can do anything you want, I'm not picky! As long as they know each other, I'm down for them to have whatever kind of history you choose.
f--- yeah you can! -
Name: Ayize
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Appearance: Long face, square chin, long and somewhat prominent nose, small dark brown eyes, rough skin. Ayize is not very tall but his amount of muscle and seemingly perpetual frown can cause him to be intimidating. He's around 5'7" an weighs between 160-170 pounds. He wears his hair in 2" dreadlocks with wispy ends but they aren't very long, almost–but not quite–reaching his shoulders when down. Ayize pulls his dreads into a ponytail most of the time. He almost always looks like he's frowning.
Personality: Due to his large build and closed-off nature, Ayize comes off as hard to approach to many people and therefore prefers to keep to himself. However, once he bonds with someone he opens up. He loves hearing jokes and takes an immediate liking to anyone who can make him laugh. Despite going through the trouble of emigration just to attend a different school, Ayize dislikes reading and holds a general distaste for studying. He has issues with reading comprehension, which causes him to feel insecure, especially compared to his peers. Ayize is what one may call "one-track-minded", in that he tends to focus on and devote all of his energy to only one task at a time, resulting in poor time management. Ayize appreciates the certainty and immobility of numbers and wishes to become an accountant. He is at his happiest when he is in front of an Excel worksheet, typing away. Because he is much better at math, Ayize feels more confident and relaxed in math-related activities than in reading-related activities or anything requiring creative thought.
Brief History: Although raised in South Africa and even choosing to keep his given name, Ayize prefers not to talk about his upbringing or his home country. He scarcely mentions his impoverished home life and gives abrupt answers to any questions regarding his past. Ayize is studying accounting.

Is it too late to join?

Not at all! I'm going to leave it open until tomorrow morning, to make sure everyone has time to make their characters and get prepared.

Name: Jonah Sparks
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance:
Personality: Geeky, kind, friendly, smart, pacifist, can get angry but only if pushed
Brief History: He was born in America and wasn't exactly popular. Most people who see him usually just beat him up. It's not that he can't defend himself, he chooses not to so he doesn't lose his temper. Other than that, he's pretty normal.
Other: His favorite game is The Last Guardian. -
Do you think maybe I could join?
