Garrett chuckled. "Again, if you end up in my house, I won't tell." He teased. "Sit with us at dinner and I'll make sure he never tells." Don interjected with a wink.
-
I raised an eyebrow at him, "And how would you do that? Would you convince him not to tell with your charming personality?" I said sarcastically, I then turned my gaze to Garrett and said matter-of-factly, "And besides, if you told, I could just stab you."
-
"These guys have healing powers." Garrett replied, gesturing to the twin fairies who were hiding behind him again.
-
"Then I'd just have to dispose of them, wouldn't I?" I said calmly, my tone clashing with the psychotic look in my eyes.
-
"On second thought... You're a bit... Much." Don chuckled. "Calm down. She just has a weird sense of humour." Garrett assured the startled twins. They then turned away, the twins whispering protection spells as they tried not to turn their backs to the girl while walking away.
-
I stared after them, "Wow, I really must be terrifying. First, Astrid thinks I'm going to kill her in her sleep, and now this." I shook my head and then looked at Don, "You clearly aren't as creepy as I thought you were if you're turned away by me being just slightly insane. Whelp, I guess I'm down to one creep now."
-
“Just... “Better safe...” Then sorry...” The twins muttered. “Well maybe if you stop telling people you’re going to kill them they’ll trust you.” Garrett chuckled. “You have to remember, this school if for the disabled magical creatures. A regular Elf would be too proud to hear your threats, knowing their magic can protect them. Don can’t use magic. A fairy would be startled, but would keep calm knowing they can fly away. These two can’t fly. A normal Vampire is strong, fast, can turn into a bat, and has several defences. Astrid has none of these defences and therefore she’s been defenceless her entire life. My point is, the people here have their reasons to be cautious and have trust issues. Telling them you’re going to kill them, joke or not, is going to stir an unstable pot.” Garrett explained.
-
"Everyone should always be cautious, trust is a f---le thing." I said, "And besides, I have weaknesses, people could totally stop me from killing them if I tried to. Also, Astrid is smart and a force to be reckoned with, it's what makes her a very effective creep. Seriously, she made a whole speech about how because she has no powers she's had to be the cleverest vampire of all and how she thinks she's better than me. Which she is not, for the record. Anyway, the whole thing was super creepy." I waved the knife in front of him, "It called in the need to threaten her with this."

“Well, like I said. People here do whatever they have to to defend themselves. It’s very likely you’ll find people who are insane, creeps, cruel, dark, full of anxiety, perverted, manipulative, or with some other defence mechanism.” Garrett told her. “However most people here befriend their roommates to heighten their defences, and that seemed to be what Astrid was doing when I first met you two, but your... Acquired taste of humour might have triggered her defences and now it’s hard to lower them.” Garrett continued. “Garrett you’re going to bore people to death.” Don groaned. “Yeah that’s my defence mechanism.” Garrett chuckled with a grin. -
(Perhaps, but even so, it's still censored, look. f---le. I made sure I spelled it correctly this time.)
"I suppose she started being creepy after I threatened her life." I said, "Anyway, how do you know threatening people's lives isn't my defense mechanism?" -
(That’s a f---le censor then.)
“Why would you need one? You grew up umonst people who were all weaker than you.” Don asked. “She had to do everything in the sun.” Garrett pointed out. “Oh.” Don replied. “Anyways, that’s fine. It’s just advised that you try to use your defence mechanism to help your roommate and theirs to help you since you have to share a room. That way you help each other survive. Mark, Clark, Don, and I share a room, so we make sure to have each other’s backs. The school tries to pair rooms with people who can help each other out because they recognize the situation. So if you two start using your defences to protect each other instead of attack each other, then you’ll probably find you work really well together.” Garrett explained. “I’ll be sure to give Astrid the same speech if I catch her having problems, so don’t worry, you aren’t getting special treatment.” He added with a chuckle. -
(Pffft.)
"All this talk about surviving, protection, and defense mechanisms is starting to make me think that Astrid wasn't joking about this being a murder school." I tilted my head, "Hmm, I'm going to have to talk to her again about that partnership. -
“Not a murder school. They just don’t want to interfere with the cultures of the creatures that live here.” Garrett explained. “Of course, a human probably has a harder time with these cultures. Not all humans follow survival of the fittest.” Don chuckled.
Meanwhile, I had returned to my room and put the garlic on my shelf in case I would need it. I entered the bathroom and washed the garlic off my hands. I have an immunity to Garlic, but the smell still makes me nauseous. Then I pulled out a book and began to read. -
"Awww, that's boring. A murder school would be so much more... terrifying. I'd also probably be a suspect, what with the threatening everyone's lives and all." I said, even though in all honesty I was happy this wasn't a murder school. I didn't want to die. "And about survival of the fittest, of course I follow that. I'm the fittest and I survive."
