Jackson moved his lips away from the close position, smirking and walked out of the booth as if nothing has happened.
-
Kylie stood there, feeling anger bubble up at how flustered she felt. Kylie growled in frustration. Why was she letting this c---y a--hole get to her!?! Why the hell did she want to kiss him? Kylie frowned as she looked at the pictures, throwing her copies out before walking away. She decided to go out to the court yard and avoid everyone, especially Jackson.
-
Jackson rolled his eyes and stripped a picture for himself and put it in his pocket. Then he stripped the fourth photo and stuck it where couples do. The photo looks real enough so when Jaden comes by the photo booth print out wall he certainly will see theirs and be pissed.
As he was talking with some of his friends. He saw Jaden from peripheral vision and excused himself to look for Kylie. Once he found her, he whispered in her ear, "Jadens here with some underdressed girl." He says in a hushed voice. -
Kylie calmed down, breathing in the cold, misty air as she stared up at the dark clouds. She didn't dare look when someone came in, not wanting to be asked any questions. She felt a shiver race down her ear, causing a catch in her throat. She simply nodded and followed him, knowing if she said anything her voice would be shaky and that wouldn't be good.
-
Jackson took her back inside. Jaden was standing next to his date. Jaden sees Jackson and Kylie and makes his way to them. He just walks right past them, a smirk on his face.
His date had the same exact necklace he gave Kylie for her birthday last year. His grandmother had just one silver heart shaped lockets not two. -
Kylie looked at the necklace and felt anger bubble inside of her. Not really because she was jealous, but because she felt overwhelmed. The memories of trusting him for several years, the memory where he gave her the necklace after the first time they slept together, the memory of him cheating on her, the memory of Jackson being a cocky a--hole in the coffee shop, the memory of the dinner with her family and Jackson, the memory of the photo booth.
It was as if a war was going on in her as she silently walked through the gym. Why was she starting to fall for a player like Jackson? And so soon after getting her heart broken too... She would have easily and naively let Jackson charm her before dating Jaden, but getting your heart broken causes you to put up walls. Kylie didn't want to trust anyone that much ever again.
Yet the person who least deserved that trust seemed to be melting her walls away. He was getting closer and no matter what walls Kylie put up she couldn't stop it. Burning tears poured down her cheeks as she ran out the gym, hoping that she wasn't noticed by anyone. She looked up, seeing that it was nearly pouring rain. Oh well. At least no one would know she was crying... -
"Oh s---." Jackson ran after her. He placed a hand on her shoulder and walked in front of her.
"You alright, Kylie?" he asks, already knowing the answer. -
"I'm fine." Kylie lied, faking a smile to hide her feelings. Stupid heart was betraying her again, beating ten beats per second.
-
"He's an a--hole, I don't know what you ever saw in him. I'm sorry you fell for such a bad guy," Jackson says hastily, slipping off his red blazer and slipping it over her shoulders.
-
Kylie took in a deep breath, the walls she put up starting to melt again, causing her to feel terrified. "Yeah... I seem to have a bad habit of falling for a--holes...." Kylie muttered, staring at the ground. Why did his stupid blazer have to be so warm and comforting? Why couldn't it stink of weird cologne and annoy her like you'd expect from a cocky player like Jackson.
-
Jackson holds out a hand towards her.
"Hey. We never got the chance to dance," he whispers.
"I even got you a corsage," he continues. -
Kylie looked at him then back at the ground to hide her foolish blushing. "Just... Leave me alone. I'm sure there are plenty of other girls who'd be happy to dance with you that you'd rather spend your time with. Don't waist your time on me." Kylie told him, deciding to try a different kind of wall in order to keep him away.
-
"Actually, you're worth my time. I'd rather waste my time with you than go around kissing sluts and doing s---. I'd rather be with you in a storm than be warm all by myself. I'd rather go through hard times with you than being apart. Okay?" Jackson didn't realise how sincere he was being right now.
He pulls out his phone in the rain so that he can turn on music, it's faintly heard in the rain.
"Shall we?" -
Kylie listened to his words and looked at him in surprise. She hesitated before taking his hand. Suddenly she felt very warm and safe despite the freezing rain falling down on them. Kylie felt more tears pour down her cheeks as her heart calmed down and her breathing deepened, giving her a relaxing feeling that she didn't trust.
-
He takes the lead in their little dance, if you can even call it that. His arms are around her waist. Seconds later, they're slow dancing in the rain to an unrecognizable song that brings out only more vulnerability.
"Wanna hear a joke?" Jackson mumbled, trying to lighten up the mood.
