"My mom has very little faith in our friendship..." Kate sighed, sitting on the front porch. She fiddled with a charm bracelet her grandmother gave her when she was little.

Blake sat beside her and hugged her,doing her best to comfort her"I understand that.". She then gave her a gentle smile"But we have a strong friendship."

"Yeah." Kate replied, taking off her charm bracelet. Then she took off a bird charm. "This is called a turtle dove. I have another charm like this one." She told Blake, making a necklace with the charm and a ribbon. Then gave it to Blake. "If you have one, and I have one, then we'll always be friends. That's how Turtle Doves work." She told Blake.

Blake smiled and takes the necklace"Thanks Kate.I'll treasure this.". She then puts it on and hugged her.

Kate smiled. Then she heard Blakes father call from next door. "I guess you have to go. See you tomorrow." Kate told Blake. She would be moving her stuff into the moving van tomorrow...

"Seeya"Blake said and hugged her one last time before leaving.

"Bye." Kate replied, walking back inside. "Kate... I'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that." Her mother told her as she walked in. Kate ignored her and stormed upstairs. "Told you it was a trap." Josh muttered, nibbling on a sausage.

Blake walked inside and went into her room.

The next morning, Kate's parents were already packing up. "I'm not going in that car." Kate complained. Her parents sighed and continued to pack the moving van. "I'm not helping pack." She added. "That's fine." Kate's parents replied. "I'm going to Blake's house." Kate announced. "Then bring your brother." Kate's mom, who was being pestered by Josh, told her. "Never mind." Kate groaned, entering the house.

Blake looked out the window as she watch Kate's parents pack their belongings into the moving van.

Once they were done packing, Kate walked over to Blake's house. "Hi Mrs. Ryder!" Kate greeted. "Can I live here?" Kate asked. "Kate! Get in the car!" Kate's mom called. "Fine!" Kate groaned as Mrs. Ryder looked in confusion. "I'm sorry." Kate's mom apologized. "It's okay. I understand." Mrs. Ryder replied. Kate rolled her eyes as she got in the car.

Blake ran outside and looked at Kate as she waved at her,a slight smile on her face.

Kate smiled, waving at Blake. "Why do we have to move?" Kate asked. "Because your father got a job as a forest ranger." Kate's mom replied.

Blake then walked back inside the house and goes into her room.She sits down on her bed as she looks out the window,a sad expression on her face.

"Have any plains for the summer?" Kate's mom asked Mrs. Ryder. "Yeah! I'm going skiing with my sister." Mrs. Ryder replied. "We won two tickets in a contest. Wally doesn't want me to go. He says there's going to be a blizzard. But those weather men are always changing their minds." Mrs. Ryder told Kate's mom.
