Tokalla, who became fascinated by the girl, disappeared into the forest at sunset. The next morning, at the break of dawn, Tokalla placed a box of cooked chicken, and a container of juiced berrys mixed with honey. Then he quickly ran to the forest to hide and watch.
-
brightfire NewbieKallia almost tripped over it and stared at the meal. Still full, she did something stresnge; she wrapped everything in fern fronds and buried it in the cool earth. Sshe placed sticks to show where it was and started walking in his direction to get more wood.
-
Tokalla quickly climbed up a tree and hid. Slowing his breath as she walked through the forest. He heard the sound of a tiger in the distance and leaped from tree to tree to follow the girl. Hiding every time she looked up.
-
brightfire NewbieKallia froze at the sound of the tiger and made sure she was downwind began to snap off branches and twigs. Satisfied, she returned to her small camp and added some wood, setting the rest to dry.
-
Tokalla followed and watched. He knew the fire wasn't going to work. She had no spark. He collected Flint and Steel and started a fire when the girl wasn't looking. Then, very quickly he hid in the trees.
-
brightfire NewbieThen how did she make the fire last time if she didn't have flint and steel?)
Kallia had just unburied her supply of flint when she heard it crackle. Sshe was getting a bit nervous that the tribe ghost legends were true as she reluctantly reheated the chicken and ate it. -
(She had a lighter, but he didn't know what a lighter was.)
Tokalla noticed the girl was nervous as she ate her food. Many people in his Tribes were good at knowing what was troubling people. He knew he either had to leave or show himself. "I'm sorry if I scared you." He whispered to her, hiding behind a tree. -
kallia screamed and tossed a very large rock into his face before realizing what she had done and repeatedly apologizing in his language.
-
"You speak my language?" He asked, picking some herbs, a wooden bowl, and a rock. "I also speak English, but didn't know people of white skin spoke ours." He added, using the rock to grind the herbs.
-
kallia had to giggle softly. "we're called americans. and i'm fine!" she said rather crossly before pulling up her jean legs and wading into the water. she suddenly reached both hands in and came out with multiple fish writhing in them.
-
"No. I'm an American. You're a French, English, Australian, Greek, Italian, or a mix of those. But since that offends you, we call you People of White Skin." He replied. "But what your Ancestors did is not of fault to you. So call yourself an American if you wish." He replied, scooping water into the bowl. "Besides, you're not fine. My moms a healer. And she taught me how to tell. You're plane crashed here. Before that you came because your father died. And you're taking on his path." He smiled, rubbing the mixture on his wound.
-
kallia ignored him as she continued her trek to gather as much fish as she could. when she was done she wrapped most of it in ferns and tied it in a woven net before letting it stay in the water and preparing a fire, cooking the fish over it. "uh huh. whatever. we call ourselves american because we settled her SECOND, not first like native americans. we distinguish each other by calling you native americans or indians."
-
Tokalla flinched angrily at the word Indian, but stayed calm. He looked again at the scars on the girl. "Give me your arm." He told her, making more of his mixture.
-
she reluctantly held it out and noticed his anger. "don't worry. most people who use it are sleep deprived or accidently let the word slip out. its offensive, i know. so we call you native americans, or natives!" she continued to explain as she stared at what he was doing to her pale, scarred and bloody arm.
-
"Huh. Well, we aren't from India. We're just from here. What ever got us here, is the same thing that got your ancestors to your countries." He sighed. "You don't spend any time in the sun, do you?" He asked, looking at her skin. Even for a white girl, her skin was pale.
