Josh did not notice the gopher steal the bread so he kept climbing.

The gopher saw him not notice, so he crawled in front and decided to wave the bread in his face.

Josh notched the gopher then butt decided that a piece of bread was not worth it.

The gopher ate the piece of bread and dug up some berries. He didn't know they were poisonous to humans. (Josh had a book about identifying plants.)

Josh took out his book on poisonous plant found the ones that the gopher had and said those are poisonous don't eat them.

"Oh! Sorry..." The gopher apologized. Lucia freaked and called him back up. So he scurried off. "You can't talk to humans!!! Gophers can't talk!!!" She yelled at him once he left earshot of the boy.

Josh was bewildered by the talking gopher but kept climbing.

"Let's see... At least we know so far that he's not cruel... He's resourceful... But there's still more we need to know..." Lucia mumbled as she thought. "We need more time... So we need to get him to take the trail." Lucia muttered. She got lots of owls to carry him to the trail (the point he's at would make a day's travel) and take his climbing tools. They dropped a note on the trail that said 'Sorry.'

Josh thought,"well these takes less energy."

Lucia watched as the boy continued on. In a day he would reach her. If he continued. She used her magic to create a powerful sandstorm to test his willpower.

Josh went head first into the sandstorm slowly trudging forward.

After an hour, the sandstorm died down. The sunset shined brightly through the nearby forest.

When the sandstorm ended josh jumped up in joy but kept going.
