Muse A is annoyed when someone rings their doorbell late at night. When they answer the door, they're even more annoyed to come face-to-face with their ex,Muse B. Muse B, typically smug and rude, looks panicked and makes a plea for Muse As help. Bitter about the sour ending of their relationship by Muse B's fault, Muse A is poised to slam the door shut in Muse B's face. Just before they can, a pint-sized kid peers out from behind Muse B's legs and asks to use the bathroom. Muse A may loathe Muse B, but they aren't heartless, so they let the child in and begrudgingly also Muse B. While the child is in the bathroom, Muse A demands an explanation from their ex. Muse B breaks down and explains that the child is theirs but they only recently found out. The kid was left at their door by their other parent and they're freaking out because they have no idea how to raise the child, especially not alone. Muse B came to Muse A for help because they have no one else to turn to. Muse A is sympathetic, mainly for the child, and only because of this does Muse A agree to help.

Valentine approached the apartment room cautiously, his hands balled tightly into fists. He had never thought that he'd see that familiar door ever again, or the numbers listed beside the door. The woman who owned it had been nothing more than a one-timer. A girl he met back when he first entered high school. It had been four years since then.
Behind him, Blair made an upset noise, tugging on his father's pant leg. "I need to pee," the child cried to his father. Valentine ignored him, raising one of his fists to knock on the door. -
Teddy sat in her window, cigarette in hand, she watched the smoke coming off it and the changing lights through it with not much care. The smell of the cigarette calming her slowly, she wasn't addicted to the small stick of death, the smell just calmed her, odd, but true. Her boss had been getting on her last nerves which was really pushing her to quit, she had taken a year off just to find what she wanted to do but at this rate it probably turn out as two and looking for a job that pays better then what she has, which would be difficult without her taking off her clothes. She heard a knock at the door and huffed, she got late night knockers all the time her apartment building being over a bar but it was a weekday for gods sake. She put out the cigarette by rubbing it against the brick under the window she was sitting in, dropped it down the fire escape and hopped out of the window into her apartment. She walked over to the door, sliding off one lock and turning the other one. She opened the door leaning against the frame keeping it close to her body, "Hel- What do you want?" She asked changing what she was going to say when she saw who it was, she narrowed her eyes slightly.

Valentine waited what felt like years for his old friend to answer the door. He was nervous. He had never returned to an ex's home before, much less with a child with him. A faint scent of cigarette smoke wafted to his nose, and he inhaled it deeply, though it was faint. Images of his time with Teddy floated to the front of his head, and he coughed, trying to get them to go away. Even though he was there now, waiting in front of her door, he didn't want to remember the past. It would make him feel like a douche. Which, to everyone else, he was. But to him? He couldn't possibly be that bad. When a lot of time had passed, and no one had come to the door, he felt his heart sank. Perhaps, he figured, she didn't live there anymore. But just as he moved to take a step back, the door opened, and she was there. Her expression changed from relaxed to tense almost instantly. Placing his hand on the door frame, Valentine begged, "Teddy, please, I need your help. I know it's going to sound bad, but--"
"Dad, I need to pee!" The small boy from behind him stepped into view, and Valentine looked back down to him, looking nervous. He hadn't wanted Teddy to see the child so quickly. He hadn't even had a second to explain to her what was going on. -
Teddys flinched slightly when he placed his hand on the door, she took a half-step back. She worry flashed across her face when he started to beg but she wiped it off her face quickly. She didn't even bother hiding her shock at the child, she shook her head slightly and started an argument with herself even though she knew what part of her was going to win. She knelt down to match the boys height, "Hey, little one, you can use my washroom, it's right back there." She stood up and pointed back to where the washroom. She held up a five in Val's face with a glare. Paused a moment and balled her hand in a fist and opened the door fully looking away from him.

Valentine could see how tense she was. She was taking the extra precautions- a step back, a hand to his face to prevent him from walking into her home, and that glare that read "stay away from me." He swallowed, watching as his son thanked Teddy and ran into the house to make it to the bathroom.
When he could tell his son was out of earshot, Valentine broke, clutching his arm with a hand to keep from crying. "Teddy, I know this is a s--- move," he began. "I've been avoiding you for years, and now this.. I promise, I didn't plan for this to happen." He closed his eyes, trying to inhale and calm himself down. "One of my older girlfriends came by, and.. Dropped him off. She told me her parents were tired of having him around, and that she didn't have the money to care for him. Honestly, I don't either, but... I didn't want to give him up to foster care, or one of those stupid programs. Even then, I... Don't know how to be a father, and I certainly know I'll f--- up alone. So, I'm.." He opened his eyes. A very serious expression took over his face, and his blue eyes were full of worry and concern for his son. "I'm asking you for help. Whatever you can give me."
