It as if she was in a trance, buried deep inside the depths of her fantasy novel until a loud knocking was heard at the front door. "I'm coming." She screamed from her bedroom (omg that sounds bad XD). Harley opened the front door rubbing her eyes. "Happy? Do you realize how f---ing late it is? What the f---." She didn't really curse in anger, more because she had almost gotten to the climax of the novel and was already starting to feel sleepy.
-
"I did say I'd come back later, didn't i?" Happy asked in his gruff voice. "Change into something that you won't be spotted in. Something other than pink ." Happy emphasized "pink" as of it were a bad color. And it wasn't. But in the dark, she'd get spotted a mile away. "I'll be waiting." Happy exited her bedroom, and helped himself to some pizza.
-
Harley groaned walking back to her room. She rummaged through the random contents in her closet. Tossing various shirts and hoodies until she came across a dark grey sweat shirt and ripped black jeans. "This should be good enough." She mumbled, changing into the new clothes. "Is this goth enough for your taste?" She asked. "Wait- That's my pizza, dude. What the hell."
-
Happy acknowledged Harley, but continuedon't eating the pizza. It was in the dark, so Harley couldn't see him. "You look better. And I'm hungry." Happy finished his last slice, wiped his mouth, and closed his helmet. " we got work to do." He said, stepping out of the shadows.
-
Harley kept narrowed eyes on him while he ate. "You know that was supposed to last me two days, right? I have like no money. Anyways, what kind of work?" Harley asked. She was hoping that it would be anything but dirty work.
-
Happy ignored her question and slammed a dirty black motorcycle helmet on her table. "Put this on. We have somewhere to go, people to visit. " He rolled down his sleeves and waited by the door for Harley.
-
Harley grimaced at the exterior state of the helmet that was put in front of her. She checked the helmet in what little light there was, and put it on. For a sane moment she wondered, why am I even agreeing to go along with this total stranger? He has the helmet of a psycho, and hasn't explained much... "By the way, where are we going?"
-
"Out." Was all Happy said. "C'mon we got work to do." He said, opening her apartment door. He couldn't tell her where they were going. She'd never want to go. Therefore, Happy kept quiet.
-
"Fine." Was all she muttered before closing the door behind the two. "At least give one detail. I'm trusting a stranger and being taken somewhere to see people I don't know." She crossed her arms over her chest, looking at Happy. Well, more like his helmet. She knew she probably looked ridiculous standing there in a sassy pose with a helmet on her head.
-
"We're gonna try and find out where this stuff came from." Happy said, holding up a bottle of the green substance. " I think I have a lead. Let's follow it. 5th Avenue. In alleyway. Let's go." Happy started his motorcycle and waited for Harley to join him on it.
-
Harley nodded in agreement and followed him to the bike. She realized there wasn't really anything to hold on to, so she reluctantly wrapped her arms around his chest. "One last question. Will I need a gun if something goes wrong?"
-
"No. No guns. Have something for you." And with that, Happy started his motorcycle and they were off. The ride was short and the were on 5th Avenue before they knew it.
-
Harley detached herself from Happy the instant he parked, and pulled off the helmet. She ran her fingers through her tangled hair, in a lazy attempt to straighten it out. "So, you were saying? You have something for me?" She held the helmet by her side, and faced him.
-
Happy handed her a knife. "Put your helmet on. Hides your face. Protection." Happy walked down the alley. It was dark, and cold. It reeked of garbage. But he continued to walk. He had a tip, and he had to follow it. He needed to find out what this possible mind control was.
