Chloro had his binoculars out and was sitting on the tallest tree in the forest. He was on the lookout for anyone who might be trespassing onto the San-Tibeh's land. He like being a warrior a little bit but always questioned why the tribes were at war at all. He thought it would make more sense for water people to attack fire people if there were any. He said "Trees need water, what's the point?"

Zia's thoughts were full of hate for Margot. Why did she have to become the leader of Tribe Anna-Rucha? After their leader was assassinated, Margot automatically became chief because she was the old leader's apprentice. But what if Margot died? Margot didn't have an apprentice currently. There were few living children, many had died from the plague. Gripping her knife, for a moment she considered assassinating the cruel leader. But no- life had always been like this for River People. She found herself on the border between Anna-Rucha and San-Tibeh quite quickly, holding out her arms in bliss. Zia had a new goal. Not only peace, but she wanted to be the leader of Anna-Rucha. But how?
She sat on the cold ground- it was fall and the leaves were just beginning to turn. One fell right in front of her, and as that happened- a twig snapped. Standing, Zia hopped up, pointing her dagger in the direction of the noise. "Who is it?!" She snarled out- finding it was just her brother- and only living family member's apprentice. "Hello, Gale." she greeted, firmly. "You're not supposed to be out alone.." Something was wrong. Gale's eyes were glazed over and full of worry. A sticky red substance covered the fourteen year old's stomach. He collapsed. -
Chloro looked through the binoculars and saw a woman with a boy. Mistaking the two for members of his tribe, he climbed down the tree and tried to run as fast as possible to them. Of course he had to find them first.
-
"Oh my god.." Zia whispered under her breath as she glanced around. She moved the boy's hands from the wound- it was a broken off spear. Closing her eyes for a brief moment, she pressed her hands on Gale's heart. He wasn't dead. Yet. But he would be soon. Panicking, Zia called out, "Somebody help me!" Her voice was a loud screech- and she didn't think anything of it. Although there were many questions she should have been asking, none came to mind.
Why was Gale out so far alone? Who attacked him? What was going on? Zia was too hyperactive to pay attention or be rational enough to think about these questions. Instead, her head spinning in circles, she began to cry, running as fast as she could to look for help. -
Chloro heard the scream from the woman and ran even faster. He soon found the woman and asked "What's wrong, who needs assistance?"
-
(bump)
-
"Someone- someone - Gale- wait- Who are you?" Zia soon became very alert. She didn't recognize this man, which caused an automatic mental red flag. She crossed her arms, tilting her head. Who was he? One of the tree people? A rouge? Both were quite dangerous, Zia believed, and were not to be trusted. Her hand automatically flew to her dagger, believing this man was the killer of the innocent teenager. "What did you do..?" She growled, attempting to keep calm- attempting to give him the benefit of the doubt.
-
Chloro said "My name is Chloro Phil. I saw you and that boy from a tall tree while looking for intruders. I went to go an talk to you, but I heard you scream. I ran faster because I knew that meant someone was in trouble. So who is it?"
-
"Gale- he's my brothers apprentice. He's about to die.. Someone.. Someone threw a spear at him." Zia was nearly out of breath and felt as if she could faint. The world was spinning around her- it was too much- too much.. She tumbled over to the site where the boy lay unconscious. "This- this is him.. He's only fourteen. I don't know.. I don't know what happened.." Her eyes began to tear, but not a single tear fell out of the girl's eyes. She was a warrior. She couldn't cry over this. She had to remain strong. Zia had to remain tough.
-
Chloro listened to Gale heart which was barely beating. He picked him up and said "I know exactly where to take him. Follow me." He started running in a direction.
-
"What- what are you doing? Where are we going?" Zia felt unsafe following this man around the woods- although she knew it quite well. The river, their boundary, hissed loudly as they got closer and closer to the border. She had no idea who he was, or if she could trust him. If he was a tree people, she would have to kill him- it was only right. If she didn't, she could get in big trouble at home. If they found out he had helped her, they would both be in big trouble with their tribes. Anna-Rucha didn't mess around with laws- Zia would be sentenced to death if anyone found out. Zia frowned, hoping he wasn't one- hoping he was just a rogue. Just a rouge, just a rouge..
-
Chloro brought both people to the tree village and the local doctor. He said "Mark, we had a situation here." Mark looked at Gale said "Oh dear, hold on I'll see what I can do." He took Gale and brought him to a backroom. Chloro put his hand on Zia's shoulder and said "Don't worry, he's in good hands now."
-
Zia frowned a lot. A lot. She was unhappy she had to ask the enemy for help. Her worst fears were confirmed. This was a death wish. But she forced a smile and a quiet "Okay." Her eyes still filled with tears, she crossed her arms and decided to sit down on the ground. She pulled her knees to her chest, officially stressed out by the whole endeavor.
-
After about an hour, Mark came back and said "Your friend's gonna be fine. He's still unconscious but he'll wake up in about 30 minutes. You can take him home then."
-
Zia thanked him again and again. Gale would have been dead without these people. Why were they helping her? She frowned. "What do you want in return?" The black haired girl tilted her head, still frowning a tad. She didn't like to owe people things.
