Icepaw sighed. "Toms! You say hi, she says hi, you say something. This is how you have a normal conversation!" She rolled her eyes.
Ivyheart paced, thinking about every breath, every step she took. Something was wrong with this..wrong, but right.
Sagestorm meowed, "Rosepaw, do you want to go hunting, now?" -
bump)
-
Rosepaw nodded.
Dustpaw licked his tail. "S-sorry!" -
"It's alright..", Shadepaw looked down.
-
Ivyheart sighed and started thinking. This all fits! Everything goes together, and it means.. It had to mean something. It had to mean that. It all fit together so well, so beautifully well. Just like the result it would bear. The result she would bear. It had to be.
But all that was in the blink of an eye. Then it happened. It came swiftly, making her gasp and sway to the side. She shrieked out loud, now sure. -
Snowwillow shot up, and raced to her sister. She got there first. "SHES GIVING BIRTH! EVERYONE SHUT UP!!"
Dustpaw blushed in embarrassment at his mother... And mostly at Shadepaw. -
"Is there something wrong, Dustpaw?", Shadepaw asked.
-
Icepaw froze where she was. Shut up? I wasn't making any noise anyway! She thought indignantly. Huh! Adult cats could be so strange! Icepaw was being quiet, but Snowwillow still told everyone to shut up? She huffed. It would be nicer to Icepaw if cats bothered yelling out names. But wait. Something was happening? She'd been too caught up to notice. Stupid me. But she knew she wasn't stupid.
Ivyheart blinked at her sister. "You never told me it felt like this!" she complained. She felt like she was dying as she lowered herself onto her side, falling the last bit. Her legs no longer had strength to hold her weight. I'm sorry, Snowwillow. Did I ruin your kits' ceremony?
Redclaw gazed at her, worried. Was she okay? Was she dying? She didn't look like a cat with an injury. They usually either moaned about how awful it was and how big the cat who gave it to them was and how brave they'd been or hopped about saying how brave they where and oh no they where fine, being a warrior they had the strength to deal with it. But this was not one of those. Those cats said they where brave. But this was some foreign thing, something he knew nothing about. "What's wrong with her?"
Scarlet purred, rolling over so that his belly showed. His life was so awesome. Somebody was shaking the blanket. He huffed. He was lying there! Being stroked, for once! But they had moved away. How dare they disturb him? He got up, grumpy, and only cheered up once he realized he was being fed. -
"Shh, shh. Sister, it's okay. Breath. Thousands of she-cats have given birth. Think of about your soon-to-be kits!" She glared at Redclaw. "DON'T JUST STAND THERE! FETCH HER SOME WET MOSS AND A STICK!"
Dustpaw ignored his mother's yowls. It was normal. -
Shadepaw glared at Dustpaw. "Dustpaw!"
-
Redclaw tripped over his own paws as he scrambled away. He tore up moss, plunged it into a puddle and grabbed a stick before running back and dropping it.
Ivyheart relaxed. I can't give birth here, can I? she thought, panicking again. She had to move! -
Snowwillow grasped Ivyheart's neck and dragged her to the warm, quiet queen's den. She started to lick her sister's belly to help the pain, or the kits.
Dustpaw jumped. "W-what?!" -
"Are you alright?" Shadepaw asked. "You seemed to be in a gaze."
-
Ivyheart gasped, her world a red blur. She saw hazy shapes but they had no form, they were just smudges of color. She realized the dappled green light was a den, but couldn't tell any more than that. The pain was like waves, waves of twisting, writhing creatures inside her, pulling and mixing up her belly.
