Killian finished the rounds quite quickly and went back to the shop, his mom was somewhere up stairs so he just grabbed the bread and left again knowing his mom wouldn't appreciate him staying. So he left to leave for the kids.
-
Rachelle wandered to where the children stay. They were so much fun! Unlike the ones who knew her, these children played with her, and didn't fear her because of her social class. She smiled as they all hugged her legs, stroking their hair. She was working on building them a home, but her father was too cruel, saying it'd be a waste of money and time.
-
Although Killian was late he took his time walking to where the kids were. He was a little disappointed that the shop closed a bit late tonight so he was running behind but he hated leaving his mom alone in the house especially on days like tonight but their was nothing to do about it.
-
Rachelle hugged the children, smiling as she played tag with the children. She laughed softly as one climbed a tree. "Not fair!" She said playfully, pouting. She laughed and ran after another one.
-
As Killian walked towards the children he saw that girl playing with them, he sighed, it was always hard enough getting them to calm down enough to eat let alone when she wasn't around. He'd never been bothered enough to talk to her and he honestly didn't want to, he didn't know who she was and he didn't care enough to ask. He sighed again.
-
Rachelle heard the sighs and smiled. "Children, Killian is here. It's time to settle so you can eat." She stated calmly, earning a 'Yes Miss Rachelle' in return. The child in the tree hopped down and Rachelle caught him, setting him on his feet. She only knew the boy's name through the children, and today she was going to repay his kindness.
-
Killian was a little surprised that she knew his name but brushed it off quickly, "Okay guys so today I had help so today you guys can have two! That sound good?" He said acting as excited but not really being excited. He felt bad that this was all he could muster up for them, but he himself wasn't that financially stable and really couldn't afford to give them anymore more. Even to the point of he always made sure these kids ate but he hadn't eaten in almost a week.
-
Rachelle smiled kindly, her hood hiding most of her face. "Would you like some help passing out the loaves?" she asked, her hand on her hip, feeling the pouch of gold coins that she was going to give him for being a kind soul and feeding the children of the kingdom.
-
Killian nodded slightly, "Yeah, sure if you'd like to." He said looking over to her, he looked down at what he was holding his hands shaking. He knew that the kids would know that it was from hunger but he still didn't want to see encase they'd feel bad.
-
Rachelle blinked and frowned. "I see.... Killian, can I talk to you in private later on? After I help pass out the food of course." She asked softly, carefully taking a couple loaves and handing them to the children.
-
Killian really just wanted to ignore her so he started to and started handing food out to the kids he nodded as he handed a loaf to a kid, "Sure... If you half to." He said quietly. He felt terrible since he was doing a terrible job of hiding his shaking but he continued on handing out the loaf happily handing out one of the last few.
-
Rachelle smiled as the children began to happily eat before gently grabbing Killian's arm and leading him out of view of the children. She removed her hood, revealing her identity. "I wanted to say thank you for being so kind to the children, though I can't express my gratitude with words alone." She grabbing her pouch of coins and gently placed it in his hand. "That should feed your family for months."
-
Killian looked at her with the ultimate blank look on his face, she looked familiar but he wasn't quite sure where he'd seen her before since he was exactly everywhere. He shoved the money in back in her hands with his shaking ones, "Thank you, miss but I can't, I look after the children I want to, not to take money off rich people." He said trying not to sound bitter, he turned and started to walk away.
-
Rachelle frowned and gently held his wrist. "Please. I'm begging you. You're shaking with hunger..." She said softly before scowling. "Take money off of rich people? Great thing to say to the princess..." She muttered letting go of his wrist and placing the coins in the basket. "Take it for your family."
-
Killian stopped at his wrist was grabbed, "So? I usually am." he said quietly pretty much ashamed of himself, he turned to her and sighed as she put the bag in his basket, he walked up close he her placing his hand in the basket he kissed her forehead and placed the bag on her head, "It's fine Miss, no need to worry." He said with the happiest fake smile he'd ever managed and walked away.
