care_bear19 Novice"I don't want to yell either" Kyla went into her room, felling lower than ever. She hated that she had hurt Devin this much. She wanted to hug Devin and say everything was okay, but felt her presence only burdened the other girl. She sat on the floor and wiped her tears, staring at the framed picture of her, Devin, and her family at the beach. Her breath cought as she sobbed, hiding her face in her hands.

Devin began to cough rather heavily, choking a bit. Perhaps it was her asthma. She sighed loudly and wiped her face again, wanting to rid of all the tears she'd cried for Kyla. All she wanted was to be happy, but how can you be happy.. If the the person closest to you doesn't know how to? Devin needed to get out and clear her head so she got up, and exited the apartment, sitting out in the hall.

Kyla felt as if her heart was breaking. She didn't know how to fix everything she just broke, without damaging the other girl. Sometimes she wondered if everyone would just be better without her around. Her family would still be alive, Devin wouldnt have to take care of her. She wiped her tears and decided something. She never wanted Devin to take care of her,but somehow had gotten used to leting her. She heard the front door close and sighed, getting up and walking into the living room. She glanced at the piano and slowly walked over to it. "It's been a long time, old friend." she muttered running her fingers over the presine white keys. She closed her eyes and started playing a soft, mellow tune, her fingers flying across the keys. -

Devin began whistling a soft tune, closing her eyes as she whistled. She was whistling Blue Lips, a song that was rather sad, but slightly uplifting. There were other residents passing by her in the hallway, all with nasty scowls and angry faces, looking at Devin as if she were some kind of monster. "..Blue lips, blue veins..blue, the color of my planet from far, far away.." Devin sang softly. Her face flushed a bit as she hoped nobody heard her. Singing was her escape from reality. -

Kyla heard a faint familar voice, singing in the hallway as she played. She smiled, not sure if hearing the voice made her happy or sad. Maybe it was both. Music had been one of the things that had brought them together in the first place. She still remembers watching Devin flush when the music teacher asked her to sing, and Kyla had shooed the teacher off with her pestering piano questions. She smiled lightly at the memory. Her fingers hit the last notes of the song and she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. -

Devin grunted, feeling her heart slowly sink. Why was she suddenly feeling like this? Why did her heart feel like it was being weighed down by something? Sometimes, Devin didn't even understand herself, or her emotions. "This isn't pretty, but it's who I am tonight," Devin sang quietly. She was a big fan of music, especially the ones that talk about situations that she could understand. -

Kyla listened quietly, walking over and sitting next to the door. She rested her head against the door frame. She hummed along to the song as her heart clentched. She knew Devin always sung how she felt. Kyla's head hurt, and her eyes stung from crying, so she closed her eyes as she listened. -

Devin pulled out her phone from her pocket, and dialed her father's number. It rang before someone answered. "Hello?" A female voice asked. Devin felt her heart completely drop, she soon answered, "I'm looking for Ashe.." She held the phone tightly, her hands feeling sweaty. Who was this woman? Did her father really get a new wife? "He isn't here right now. Who are you?" "I'm his daughter, you numbskull," Devin replied sharply. "Tch, I shoulda known. Goodbye you little piece of trash," the woman said before hanging up. Devin couldn't help but throw her phone at the wall in front of her. -
care_bear19 NoviceKyla flinched as she heard something hit the wall out in the hall. Concerned, because the building they lived in wasn't exactly the safest, she opened the door a little and peeked out.

Devin was clenching her fists, drops of sweat traveled down her face. Why the hell did he get a new wife..? Did he really forget.. She thought. It was all her fault. She was the reason her mother died, and she was the reason why her family was falling apart. She held her knees close and closed her eyes. "I'm sorry, Kyla.." was all she could say.

care_bear19 NoviceKyla walked into the hallway and sat down next to Devin. "No, it's not your fault. I shouldn't have yelled at you. You were right, I was caught up in my own stuff and I didn't see that you needed me too." she said sighing. She looked at the phone on the ground. "What happened?"

Devin shook her head furiously. "..I-I.." she couldn't find the right words. Her mind was practically shutting down and she couldn't function anymore. The phone was on the ground, the screen cracked and it had a few pieces that had broken off. Devin turned to Kyla, her voice weakening. "M-my dad got a n-new..wife," she said, beginning to cry. "I don't want anyone else! I want my mom!" Devin began to scream.

care_bear19 NoviceKyla's eyes widened slightly. She pulled the other girl into her arms. "DEVIN PLEASE STOP SCREAMING" she shouted over the other girl. She held her close, not sure what else to do, or if she was helping or making it worse. She felt the other girl shaking.

Devin quieted down once she was in Kyla's arms. She felt a sudden warmth coming from her friend, and she found it soothing. "I'm sorry.." Devin said once more, before letting out a soft coo. The young blonde soon snuggled into her friends' arms. Kyla was just like Devin's mother. Warm and comforting. It was a really nice feeling.
