Lucifer's eyes went wide as his boyfriend popped the top off of the wine bottle. He shot up, grabbing Cadence's wrist tightly and twisting it. "What did I say, Cadence? No alcohol, and I mean it. Don't disobey me." He growled, not letting go of the tight grip on his wrist.
-
"I just want a little. A glass isn't going to hurt anything." Normally, Cadence knew better than to continue trying to piss him off. But this time, he just really wanted to do what he wanted to do. "And, anyways, you're not my boss. Every teen drinks, Luci."
-
"Who do you think you are, Cadence?" He yelled at the younger, using his other hand to smack the boy. He was full of anger. Lucifer had given the younger everything he needed, a roof over his head, food, and unconditional love, and this is how the kid treated him? "I am your boss, this is my house. I'm sick of you and your smart mouth!" He said, giving the boy another smack across the face.
-
After being slapped twice, Cadence still didn't seem to care. He used his free hand to shove Lucifer back, dunking to grab the bottle before darting up the stairs. "You're not my boss!," He yelled down, before heading into his own bedroom. They both had different rooms, though Cadence did sleep in Lucifer's most nights. He slammed his door shut, and sat on the bed, staring at the bottle in his hand, starting to feel the stinging on his cheek.
-
Lucifer looked at his boyfriend in shock after being shoved back. He darted up the stairs himself, climbing them two at a time. He shoved open the door to Cadence's room, breathing heavily and fury burning inside of him. "Get out of my house. Now, Cadence, that was the last straw."
-
The boy had already set the bottle down, knowing that it wasn't worth it. He shook his head, sighing. "Luci, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I-.. I know that you get to make the rules. I just had a kinda bad day and I need to do.something to take my mind off it. I'm sorry. Can I make dinner?"
-
"I'm sick of the excuses, Cadence. I can't believe you even had the thought of defying me. Get downstairs, make dinner, do whatever. I don't care, just stay out of my f---ing way," he said before leaving the room and slamming the door behind him. Lucifer went into his own room, slamming the door behind him there as well.
-
Cadence swallowed hard, and turned off the light in his bedroom, heading into the bathroom that adjoined their rooms. He locked the doors on both sides, lifting himself onto the counter. Cadence grabbed a basket off the shelf above his head, coming up with a couple razor blades and a lighter out of a box that was supposed to hold earings. Lucifer had yet to find where Cadence had been hiding them this time, which was good, because if the boy couldn't be in control of his emotions, at least he could be in control of his body.
Swallowing, Cadence rolled hip his sleeve, pressing the corner of one blade into his skin, about half way up from his wrist. He dug down, and then pulled, making one fairly deep cut. Three more followed. When the third one wouldn't stop bleeding, Cadence bit down on the collar of his shirt, and flicked the lighter open, burning the cut shut. He let out a little muffled howl of pain, but held it until the smell of burning flesh filled the air.
Yeah, his mind was off it now. -
Lucifer paced back in forth in front of his bed for a couple of minutes before heading downstairs. He took out a pen and a sticky note from the kitchen drawers and left a note on the kitchen table for Cadence.
[i] Going to pick up some food. Call me if you need anything.
Love,
Lucifer xxx [i]
Lucifer grabbed his cell phone and some money for food before leaving the house, softly shutting the front door behind him. He hummed as he walked towards the garage. He could take his car, but he wanted to take his time, so he grabbed his skateboard. He walked down the driveway and set it down, hopping on without a helmet or without any protection. He wasn't worried about that as he shoved the money in his pocket and headed towards town. -
(I'm great at this.)

Cadence didn't leave his room for a while. When he did, he saw the note, and ran a hand through his hair, sighing. He went about the kitchen like a robot, boiling noodles and sauce, chopping onions and peppers, rolling meat balls. After a while, he had two plates made, and sat them across from each other. He poured Lucifer a glass of wine, and himself a glass of water, sitting down to wait for his boyfriend's return.
-
Lucifer ended up just picking up a few groceries for the week at the Fresh Market, he couldn't get very much since he was on a skateboard. He wrapped the handles of the two paper bags he got around his wrists as he headed of back towards the house. He got there a few minutes later. Lucifer threw the skateboard into the garage, not caring where it landed, and walked up the steps to the front door. He slowly opened it, kicking his Converse off at the door. He made his way to the kitchen, giving Cadence a grim smile before quickly putting away the groceries.
-
The boy didn't speak until all the stuff was put away. Then, he muttered a soft, "I made dinner." As if it wasn't obvious. Of course, Cadence hadn't touched his yet. He knew better.
Absentmindedly, he brushed his hand over one of the two chairs that remained empty, mumbling. "We should fill these soon." He'd always been doing that, dropping hints that he wanted children. "I mean, if I'm not going to school next year, I'll have plenty of time. And your retirement pay from the army would help.." He trailed, looking up to meet Lucifer's eyes. -
"I see that," he said with a smile, leaning down down kiss his boyfriend's forehead gently. He sat down in his own seat, taking a small sip of the wine. "Maybe we should," he replied softly, eyeing the chairs. He wanted children badly, as well, but what if he were to snap at one of them like he did sometimes with Cadence? What if they were afraid of them because of it? He let out a soft sigh as he took a bit of his food, deep in thought. "Twins would be..cute.." He muttered under his breath.
-
"Oh, I hadn't even thought about twins. You're right. Maybe we could foster? Before we adopt. So that, you know, we can see if your problem would apply to the kids, too." Cadence didn't know how else to say it, because it sounded bad no matter what. He took a sip of his water, sighing. "I'm sorry for earlier."
