(UHM Ashley with Carter and Oliver with Claire)
-
Orange rays of sun broke into the abandoned house through the window as the morning sun rose in the east. Trash and broken furniture littered the house Ashley and her friend Carter were in. Pictures of the family who used to own the place hung crookedly on the wall; most of the glass was either cracked or missing. Ashley was curled up much like a cat on one of the beds she found in the house. The room looked like it was just a plain old guest room from before, but it was trashed when they first found the place. A knife was clutched in her hand under her pillow as she slept, just in case any visitors decided to break into the house while she was sleeping; brass knuckles was also stuffed under the pillow. Ashley hadn't gotten much sleep the night before; it was a new house and she constantly worried that something bad might happen to her or Carter. Worry was something she felt a lot ever since things changed.

Flavor exploded across Claire's tongue, making her mouth water and her only to want more. She sat in the living room on an old torn up couch with a pudding cup in one hand, and a spoon in the other. She shoveled another spoonful of chocolate pudding into her mouth, making an "Mmm," sound to let any eavesdropper in the room know that she was enjoying her first cup of pudding in many, many years. Food was hard to come by those days, and to find something as wonderful as chocolate pudding was like finding the Holy Grail or the answer to the universe. Another cup of chocolate pudding sat next to Claire, and she planned on saving it for her 'friend' Oli. But if he wasn't awake soon, she'd just eat it herself. -
(Bump?)
-
Carter was sitting close by his friend, arm slung over his knee casually as he watched the sun rise slowly into the morning sky. The small, brown bag he had managed to keep safe through his journeys sat beside him, torn at the bottom, but not enough so the items would fall out. Carter was careful all of his belongings, as if they would dissapear into thin air just like his brother, Oliver, had just a few months ago. Carter had never really been all that close with Oli. They were complete opposites, in looks and personality. He still missed his brother dearly, and waits for a day in which they would reunite. But, as the sun rose higher into the sky, it really wasent the time to think about that. Carter pulled a small water bottle out of his bag and took a small sip, careful to conserve the liquid. He put the bottle up, careful to tighten the cap more than needed.
~~~
Oliver was curled up on the other side of the couch, just now waking up. He gave a small yawn, sitting up. He glanced over at the girl he had walked along with for a few months now, Claire. He wanted to be able to say they were friends, but they really werent. Their personalities were just too different. Claire kinda reminded him of his brother, Carter. Oliver thought about him a lot, and always wonders if he thinks about him as well. Carter observed the scene as he awoke, noticing the cup of pudding that sat beside Claire. He gasped, leaning over to grab it. He cupped it in his hand, a smile coming up on his face. "Mine?" He asked, already taking the cover off of the chocolate pudding. -
With a slow yawn, Ashley slowly began to wake up. Her head lifted off of the pillow and an arm propped up under her to sit her up in the bed. She looked over at Carter to see that he was already awake, and watching the sun rise from the east. She yawned again and pushed the blankets off of her. "Morning," she greeted, while running her fingers through her thin brown hair. Ashley looked around the room, a little dazed, and she rubbed her eyes to get the sleepiness out of it. The first thing that came to mind once her head cleared was the topic of food. Food was the main thing that was usually on her mind. She remembered what it was like in the beginning when the world suddenly became hostile; there was hardly any food for her, and she got used to being hungry. "Do we have anything to eat?"
~~~~
A smirk crossed Claire's lip as Oliver began eating the chocolate pudding she saved for him. She put another spoonful of pudding in her mouth and she tossed Oliver a spoon. "It would probably be easier to eat if you had a spoon," she stated while swirling her spoon in her pudding; making sure to eat slow enough to savor ever bite. "I found some more stuff in there, like canned food that should be good. There was some bread, but I doubt that, that will be good. We could eat lunch here, back up everything, and then head out to find someplace else later if ya want." -
"Good morning," Carter replied, who was already digging through the bag for something to eat. He was starving, as he always was, but he would never admit it to anyone. He thought of himself as the leader, and leaders in his mind don't complain. "I think so.." He murmered, finally finding something to eat. "Here." He tossed a can of peaches her way along with a spoon.
~~~
Oliver rolled hos eyes, but catched the spoon. "I can just use my fingers," he remarked, taking a big spoonful of chocolate pudding into his mouth. He sighed happily with a smile. "That's good." He said with a mouthfull of food. He grinned when he heard that they were leaving. He loved going on adventures, and this time it was no different. "Okay, sounds good." -
Ashley gladly caught the can of peaches, and if on que, her stomach growled. She quickly muttered a small thanks and began to bust the can of peaches open. For a few minutes, she didn't say anything. The sweet juicy fruit slowly subsided the hunger that was deep in her stomach, and she was grateful that her and Carter had a decent amount of food. She'd probably be dead without him. "What are we going to do today?" she questioned after half of the can was gone. She held the can out to see if Carter wanted some.
~~~~
Claire stuck her tongue out at Oliver as he ate and she thought about the plans for that day. "I was thinking we should find a new place to camp first," Claire said while running her fingers through her hair. "Then do whatever else next." A sigh passed her lips as she finished off her pudding cup. "Dammit." -
