Mr. Gilmore still thought of Riley as a simple pet, so he was fine with talking about personal matters in front of him. In fact, he entirely passed Damien in the doorway and sat down on the bed to pet Riley behind his ears while he started talking. "We want you to think about moving out. You're old enough, after all..."

Damien turned,and faced his father.His eyes widened as he spoke."B-but.." He stuttered,trying to speak.He didn't wish to leave.He wanted to stay."I don't want to go!" He shouted,and stormed out of the room.

Riley cringed when Damien shouted. He wanted to go after him, but there was still an obvious tent in his pants and he didn't want Mr. Gilmore to see. When the father got up to go find Damien, Riley rushed to the closet to find something to wear that would make it less obvious.

Damien rushed down the stairs.He ran out the front door,into the night.He stopped halfway,and looked up at the night sky.

Riley hurried to take off all of his clothes, except for his underwear, and change into loose-fitting sweatpants and a long t-thirt. When he rushed downstairs, Mr. Gilmore was going around the house, calling Damien's name. Riley looked out the window, and when he saw Damien, he quietly slipped out the door and went out.

Damien let out a deep growl.He continued to stare up at the stars.I wish I could be free like the stars.To be free of burdens.Sadly,his wish would never come true.

Riley slowly made his way up to Damien, going up behind him. He was a little shorter than his owner, so he set his forehead between Damien's shoulder blades and stayed quiet.

Damien felt something touch him.He quickly turned around,and wound up seeing Riley.He crossed his arms."Don't sneak up on me like that..I could've hurt you." Be said,and went back to looking at the sky.

Riley looked up at him, whimpering an apology. He had no interest in looking at the stars, because his whole world was standing right in front of him.

Damien's eyes saddened.He wrapped his arms around Riley."I'm sorry" He whispered.

Riley closed his eyes, hugging Damien back. "Damien?" He asked, keeping his head against the other's chest. "What does dad mean about moving out?"

Damien closed his eyes."He wants me to leave." He whispered,a slight sadness in his voice."I don't want to go.But I have to."

Riley frowned, upset to hear that Damien would be leaving, again. "Well... Well do I get to go with you this time to army?" He asked, assuming that he would be going back to the same place.

"No,no! I'm getting my own house,is what I meant.I'm not going back to the army.Not ever again." Damien said,and flashed a smile.His smile quickly faded.
