"Oh, goodness," She frowned, looking worriedly back at Antonio's carriage. "If you can help him out here, I'll go get a couple of horses and we can go find a doctor."
-
Antonio nodded, looking back towards the carriage. "Alright. And uhm," he looked back at Bella, "Nobody else knows, right? That me and him.."
-
Bella shook her head. "No one. I told the other dancers that you two were distant cousins, you're the only family Lovino's got, and that's why you're so close." she explained with a nod and a soft smile. "He's my friend too, I'll make sure no one knows." With that she turned, setting off to find a pair of horses.
-
Antonio smiled, and mumbled a thank you, before hurrying back to his carriage. He opened the door, went it, then shut it behind him. "Bella's going off to find a doctor."
-
Lovino was sitting on the floor, shaking like a leaf in the wind. He'd gotten up to try and get the blanket again, but he hadn't made it far before collapsing. He looked up at the sound of Antonio's voice, flickering on the verge of unconsciousness. "...A-Antonio, I can't," he struggled, making a feeble attempt to stand. "It hurts, it hurts," he breathed, giving up and clutching his temples.
-
Antonio felt a little light headed himself, seeing Lovino in the state that he was. He hurried to kneel in front of him, snatching the blanket for him. "Lovi, I don't know if you should sleep, sleep make things worse sometimes. Try to stay awake, please." He didn't lay a finger on him, not wanting to cause him anymore pain.
-
Lovino shakily took the blankets, hugging them to his chest, too weak to wrap himself up. "I'm so tired, Tonio," he whimpered. His fever was making it hard to focus, he didn't understand why Antonio wouldn't let him rest or hold him.
-
"I know," Antonio said calmly, but he was terrified, honestly. He'd heard that dying people always said that, hat they were tired, and so he was horrified, thinking Lovino was dying. "But don't fall asleep. Stay awake. Bella will be back soon."
-
Lovino let out a soft sob, nuzzling into the blankets. "T-Tonio, I'm sorry," he cried. "Whatever I did, I'm s-sorry..." he was worried that he'd upset him, and that was why Antonio refused to hold him and comfort him. The fever and the panic together was crushing, and Lovino sobbed into the covers.
Bella was already on her way back. She'd asked the first person she saw about a doctor, and now she was riding back, a young man riding close behind her. -
Antonio wasn't sure why Lovino was apologizing, but he was quick to dismiss his apologies. "You didn't do anything, mi amor," he said. "Would it hurt if I hug you? I don't want to make your head hurt anymore."
-
Lovino shook his head, dropping the blanket to reach desperately for Antonio. "I need you with me, Tonio, I-I'm scared," he murmured. And he was. He'd known there was a terrible fever going around, but it had stricken so fast, and he could barely function now...What if he was dying or something? Just then, there was a knock at the door, and a frantic call of, "Antonio! I brought the doctor!"
-
Antonio would have loved to lean forward and give him a big hug, but then there was a knock. So, he hurried back to standing, and opened the door. Just then, his emotions overwhelmed him, and he had to wipe tears away from his eyes. "He's not good."
-
A fresh wave of sobs wracked Lovino's body as Antonio left him, moving away. The doctor gave Antonio a fleeting smile. "I'll just take a look, I'm sure it's nothing serious." he said, stepping into the carriage. He knelt in front of Lovino, brows furrowing at the pained noises coming from the Italian. Bella stood by, looking a little teary-eyed herself. "Oh, god, I hope he's okay..."
-
Antonio had his arms crossed over his churning, nervous stomach. He had no idea what he would do if something was really wrong with Lovino. "Me too," he said, chewing on his lip as he watched the doctor.
-
The doctor ran a few quick tests, checking Lovino's pulse and asking him a few simple questions. After a few minutes, he stood up, running a hand through his hair and sighing. "It's just a regular passing sickness, but he has it worse than most I've seen. His fever is dangerously high. He should get some ice or a cool cloth. He's delirious, his fever needs to be brought down before anything else. I have a tonic that will help ease the pain, and that and lots of rest should help. If he's not any better in a few days, you need to find a doctor again." he spoke slowly and calmly to the two anxious performers. Bella thanked the man, handing him a few coins as he departed, pushing a vial of medicine into Antonio's hand.
