This was the first time that Rapunziel had ever been this close to the outside. It was right there, right outside the door, and he was ashamed to know that he was lingering behind the Prince, afraid to step in front of him.
-
Alton raised an eyebrow, waiting for the man to follow him. He glanced in the direction he knew was where camp was, thanks to the sun.
-
Rapunziel realized he was holding up the process, so he just went right for it, stepping out behind Alton. It felt uncomfortable to be so out in the open, so he crossed his arms and followed closely.
-
The man quickly lead the way back to camp, finding that it hadn't actually been very far at all. He was a bit confused, though, at the fact that he couldn't see Eli or Carter, though all three of the horses were still tied. They were prancing nervously, huffing and stomping. Suddenly, Alton felt a wetness on his head. He frowned, looking up, wondering if it was raining. Instead, though, he found that both of his friends were hung in the branches, necks slit open. He stepped back, away from the dripping blood.
-
Rapunziel only looked up when he saw the look on the prince's face. The long-haired boy slowly glanced up, his stomach dropping at the sight and eyes widening. He wa entirely sure, now, that it had been a terrible idea to go out where there were ruffians who killed people.
-
Alton sunk to his knees, lowering his eyes to the ground. He covered his face, trying hard not to cry- From a young age, he had been taught that men do not cry, that it was a sign of weakness.
-
Rapunziel stared with a blank look for a while, considering that the sight was completely foreign and rather... Terrifying.
-
The blond took a few moments to recover himself, stood, and moved to untie two of the horses. He lead them over, handing one to the man. He inhaled, and said, "We should get going, then."
-
Rapunziel was now nervous about continuing on, but really, there was no way he'd be able to get back to the tower himself, and he doubted the prince would take another delay. He held the lead of the horse, but having never ridden one, he simply stood and waited to see what Alton would do with it.
-
Alton started to mount, but then noticed the boy's nervousness. He gave him a weak smile, putting his foot back on the ground. "You've never rode, have you? Would you like to ride behind me, double? We'll bring that horse along too, maybe you ca learn along the way.."
