(Great minds think alike
do you know how hard it is to find a male sleeping beauty picture like omg)
Alton hardly noticed that he had began climbing the steps. He couldn't help wanting to explore, and even smiled at the idea of finding something cool at the top of the tower.
The stairs seemed to stretch on forever. Finally, though, he reached a wooden door. He could tell by the fact that the handle was covered in dust that it had long since been forgotten. He brushed a spiderweb away, and pulled the door open, stepping back as he noticed his new surroundings. -
As soon as the door opened, Rapunziel swung, closing his eyes and blindly aiming in the general area where a head would be. Of course, just his luck, the ruffian hadn't even stepped into the room, and he ended up hitting nothing but air. His eyes opened, and realizing his mistake, he jumped away from the doorway, holding the pan out like a sword with both hands at the intruder. "Back away, ruffian! Out of my tower!" He demanded.
-
Alton's hand moved for his sword as soon as the person swung at him, but he didn't draw it, stepping back. He held up his hands, shaking his head. "Ruffian? Me? Your tower? ...You live here?" He was confused, and a little nervous. Maybe he should have drawn his sword. He didn't know if this person was mentally stable or what, and he wasn't sure he wanted to take any chances. "Look, I'm not here to hurt you, I swear."
-
"That," Rapunziel stated, "is utterly insane. No one barges into someone's house without intending to harm them. You have a sword, for god's sakes!" He'd caught the action of the person reaching to grab it, and even though they hadn't pulled it, he could tell what it was.
-
Alton blinked, trying to understand the man's reasoning. He tilted his head, sighing. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Prince Alton," He did a quick bow, pulling a golden chair from around his neck, pointing to the symbol engraved on a single charm, the one shared by only royalty in the kingdom. "Why on earth would I harm a subject?"
-
The pan-wielding man only wrinkled his nose. The symbol meant nothing to him, considering he'd never seen it before. Maybe, he thought, he only looked so fancy because he was a ruffian who was amazing at being a ruffian and stolen it all. At that moment, he decided to depend himself, and raised the pan up bove his head, then threw it right at the "prince's" head.
-
The prince started to say more, but was cut off when the pan was swung again, and before he could dunk, it was lights out. Alton was aware of a pain in his head, but that was pretty much all.
-
Rapunziel stared at the lifeless-looking body of the ruffian on the ground. He was fairly sure that, at the very least, this person was unconcious. If not dead. And oh, god, he really hoped he wasn't dead.
The blonde, after a couple seconds, rushed forward, taking each of the stranger's feet in a hand and slowly dragging him into the room. After picking his pan back up and shutting the door, Rapunziel poked at the man's chest with his foot to see if he was alive. -
Alton groaned, but didn't wake. His ears were ringing, and so was his head. God, that man could hit. He wasn't someone he wished to pick a fight with, that was for sure.
-
Once the man on the ground made a sound, Rapunziel was relieved to know he wasn't dead. He sighed, wondering what to do with the guy. After another second of thought, he gathered up the man's feet again, and dragged him to a chair, propping him up in it with a little upper body work.
-
Alton awoke at the movement, open eye drifting open. He stared up at the man who had just knocked him out, and, maybe he was exaggerating but, almost killed him. When he spoke, he was careful about what he said. "I didn't mean to startle you, sir, but I was being pursued by a group of ruffians. They cut me off from my group, and then it started raining, and well.." He sighed, nodding his head toward his sword. "May I take shelter here? You can take that until I leave, though I do ask you give it back when I depart. I'll leave as soon as the rain stops."
-
Rapunziel stepped back from the man a good four feet. Having set his pan on the ground across the room, he began to twiddle nervously at his hair, his hand first snatching the part that passed his waist and then holding that up so that it fell to be holding the very end of the braid. "So..." He stepped back forward, eyeing the sheath holding the sword. "I'll hide it, then you can have it back when you're leaving." He stated, thinking to himself. Deciding it was a decent enough idea, he moved all the way over to the stranger, letting go of his braid to bend over and un-attach the item from him.
-
Alton was silent as his sword was taken from him. After it was safely removed, he moved to pull a pouch away from his belt, opening it up, pulling out three silver coins. He tossed them at the man's feet, offering him a weak smile. "For kindly providing me with shelter," He mumbled. It was the least the young prince could do. In fact, he could do so much more.. "Say, would you like to join me on a quest?" It was a crazy idea, one that his parents would scold him for. But, still..
-
Rapunziel looked down at the coins, bending down to pick them up. He held the sword in its sheath in one hand, while he gazed at the three silver objects in the palm of his other. They were curiously expensive-looking.
"A quest?" He asked, suddenly far more interested in this stranger, who he was beginning to believe was possibly not a ruffian. "What sort of quest? Outside?" -
"Yes, outside. See.. I'm sixteen now, and in two years, my father will pass the crown onto me. First, though, I have to prove myself to my people. I have to go to the far end of the kingdom, kill one of the dragons, and bring back it's head." He said, smiling softly, "A rather easy task. It's tradition. My father, his father, and his father before him all completed their quest.
