An alien/time traveler (the only thing it'll share with DW tbh) crashes a few hundred years before any time they've visited on Earth, and has to adapt with the help of a human while rebuilding their traveling device. In addition, one of the human's parents/roommates/close friends (up to you depending on age I guess) works for the nearest district of an agency specifying in extraterrestrial research. Finding parts will be hard enough on its own, but avoiding discovery, too? That'll be nearly impossible.
