(I'm getting kinda tired so I'm gonna go to bed. See ya.)
She chuckled at the comment. "Yeah, they were." She suddenly swerved out the way of another driver who was probably drunk. Hours passed before they reached there destination. "Imogen said she would be here." Claire said reassuringly. She got out of the truck and started walking to the house. -
(Okay, see you.)
James nodded and sat in the truck still, waiting. -
When she opened the door, the smell of stale air filled her lungs. "Ugh." She muttered closing the door. At least there was some A/C. "Imogen? Are you in here?" She called out. There was a moment of silence. "In the kitchen, kid." Hollered a familiar voice. A smile spread across her face as she jogged passed a set of stairs and though a living room. They embraced each other in a friendly hug before business started. "I'm willing to pay about 20,000 for the house. What do ya say?" The older blonde thought for a second. "Deal." She decided, sticking her hand out. Claire shook it. "I've got the money in the truck, so I'll be back in a second." She said already jogging out of the house.
-
James watched as Claire ran back out out the house. "So, are we able to get the house?" He asked.
-
"Yes." She replied in a high pitch voice. She went to the back of the truck grabbing a wad of cash and carefully counting. When she finished she raced back to the house, only Imogen wasn't in the kitchen anymore. "Imogen?" She called out. "I'm up stairs, dear." She made her way up, felling suspicious. She was upstairs only she was partially in the closet. Claire stepped around to get a better look. There was a small door that she seemed to be crawling out of. "This, my dear is how you will escape in times of danger. It leads to the basement which is finished and then there's another small door somewhere in there that leads to the back. I choose this house because of this feature. For you, child." Claire stared at the lady unable to say anything. "I know dear, there's no need to thank me. This is just my job." She smiled walking out. "I better get going. After all, I do attract the police every once and a while." She winked making her way down stairs with Claire. "Ah, and you can tell your boyfriend to come in now."Claire took the comment by suprise but quickly retorted back "Oh, Imogen, he's not... we're not like that." She said a blush surfacing on her cheeks as she walked out to the truck.
-
"Oh, nice." James watched as she went back in. "Hm? What's wrong?" He asked when she came back out to the truck some time later.
-
"Oh, nothing really." She paused for a second. "I'd like you to come inside. So we can tour it together. Imogen had to go."
-
"Okay." James opened the passenger door and stepped out of the truck. Closing the door, he began walking to the house. "I meant to ask earlier, but is Imogen a friend of yours?"
-
"Um..." She started, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear "Yeah, we kind of met in jail one time. The only time I got caught, but it was before you came along. So yeah." Claire saw that the keys were left at the front step so she picked them up, although the door hadn't been locked after she left. She stuffed them into her back pocket before stepping in. This time she took in the look of the interior. Everything looked pretty modern so far from the large front foyer and massive living room. The house looked already furnished.
-
James relaxed. "I just need to know if we could trust her." James stepped into the house after her, and gazed around. "Not bad." He took his shoes off and set them by the door.
-
Claire ran ahead of James up stairs. "I call dibs on the master suite." She wound through the twisting halls until she found the a bedroom next to the one with the secret door. The room wasn't much like hers, but it was nicer.
-
James walked upstairs, noticing how big the hall looked.
-
She walked up to the vanity that was across the bed. In the mirror reflected her all too familiar face. Wavy red hair that she hated, steel grey eyes, and a sprinkle of freckles. She turned away quickly not wanted to see anymore, and started looking through the room. There was a walk in closet next to a good sized bathroom, two dressers at opposite sides of the room and a queen sized bed to top it off.
-
Opening a bedroom door, James saw it was a decent sized room, with grey colored walls and a black floor. In the room, there is a medium sized dresser, a small sized bed big enough for himself, and a large rectangle window with silver curtains on either side. James threw off his backpack and plopped down on the bed, noting how comfortable it was.
-
Claire started throwing clothes into the closet and dressers before heading down stairs to put some food in the pantry. She frowned looking at it. They would have to buy some food. Lots. She had decided earlier to throw out the food from the old fridge because it would have rotted and if she brought with her it would have thawed or spoiled. She went back upstairs to see how much money was left. There was enough to last them a month or so of food, water and electricity. "James." She called from her bedroom.
