Claire relaxed a bit in her seat. "Uh, ok." She took one last swing with the drink before finishing it. It was late afternoon now with the sun setting outside from a rather large window. "I think I'll stay in my room for the evening. Good bye, James." She walked to her small bedroom feeling a bit dizzy. Damn beer.
(I've gtg. See ya tomorrow.) -
He looked up to see her go to her room. "Okay. Feel better, Claire." He said. He then sat in the couch, wondering how he'd hidden from his past this long. He turned the T.V on and relaxed.
(Okay, see ya.) -
(Bump.)

(Ok Ok, i'm backies. And very wet.)
Claire stood a second, scanning the familiar setting. A messy bed with blue and grey sheets and newspapers strewn about. Clothes piled in corners of the room, a small nightstand in between a window and the bed. Finally she plopped down on the bed to relax. Turning her head a certain paper caught her eye. "Jewelery Stolen from a James Avery." s---. Sounds familiar. She read on. "Suspect is reportedly a cacation female, about 5'5, and has red hair. Eye color not seen yet. If you have any information call 565..." She moaned, trying to massage her temples. She didn't think she had made that one obvious. -
(Uh, okay. xD)
Trying to watch whatever was on, James saw an ad for a foster care home. Immediately, he threw the remote at the T.V and closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down. The memories kept flooding through his mind, however, and he tried to shut them out. After a few minutes, he grabbed a beer and began chugging it, hoping to forget. -
For a second she had tried falling asleep but memory's kept flooding into her mind. Being pushed off a swing. Hits from a stranger called dad. A fist fight with another young girl. But there was also a soothing mom to calm her down at her worst. Claire blinked her eyes a few times to get rid of the tears. No. She wasn't going to cry. After a small battle with tears she starting getting ready for bed. With the challenge of dizziness.

James was on the verge of sleeping half an hour later, already regretting what he'd done. Drinking wasn't going to help him, it was only going to make him sleep. Sleep would only bring the memories back, and the memories would only torment him. He had passed out after a few more minutes, and already, the dreams came...
Twelve year old James Evergreen was playing in the backyard of his father's house, watching bugs crawl around. "JAMES!" His father yelled, and he jolted upright. His father came running out of the house with his belt, screaming. "I thought I told you I wanted the house clean by afternoon!" Mr. Evergreen put James on his knee and began repeatedly hitting his bottom with the belt. After a few minutes of this, he pulled James by the hair into the house. "My parents should have taken you. You're nothing but a worthless kid!" -
Falling asleep was easy, but being in them was the opposite. Images flashed behind her eyes like a slide show. Anything from school to her dad came to sight. Claire tossed around a bit before waking up. Her small clock read 3:45. Water seemed nice at the moment so she pulled on robe and walked out of the room with as much stealth as possible. James was probably asleep at this time. It seemed chilly for a second but then she remember what she was wearing, a bra and underwear.

James was outside on the front steps of the apartment. He put a cigarette to his mouth and lit it. "Damn my life. I should just end it, f--- it..." He began recalling other things that happened. He lifted up the sleeve on his left arm and looked at the old burn wound his 'father' had given him. He disdainfully sighed, and took a drag of his cigarette before throwing it on the ground. He put his head in his arms and brought his knees to his chest.

(Okay, see you.)

Claire took another sweet sip of water before looking out the front window and into the few dozen stars sprinkled in the sky. But soon she noticed a small figure huddled on the porch. James? It was possible. She quietly stepped out and peered down. It was another warm night, like most this time of year, but something sang in the air something bitter. "James." She whispered, sitting next to him.

(Sorry, I'm back.)
James looked at Claire and said, "Oh, hey. Sorry if I'm worrying you. Something just reminded me of my past.." His gaze lowered back to his left arm. -
Claire sighed looking away to the street then back to James. "It is kind of worrying me. I've just never seen you this way before." She waited a bit before speaking again. "I haven't exactly been fine. Heck, if I was normal I would've been in collage or something by now."
