"Oh, my!" he squeaked. "Are you alright?" he asked, tilting his head. He was unsure of what to do in this situation. He scratched his head, thinking of what he should have been doing.
-
Carl then quickly turned around and threw a snowball at Jordan and it hit him square in the chest. "Ha! Carl: one, Jordan: zero!" Carl shouted while putting his hands up in the air.
-
This did mot amuse Jordan whatsoever. Getting hit with things, even if it was snow, was never a fun time for him. He pouted, stomping his foot. His eyes brimmed over with upset tears. "Don't do that.." he whispered, but audible enough for Carl to hear.
-
Carl's smile faded instantly when Jordan said this. Way to go, you hurt him. You're worthless. Carl looked down at his feet and kicked some snow, feeling horrible and all the joy he felt before faded. "I'm sorry," he says lowly.
-
Jordan then smirked. His plan...it had worked perfectly! He seriously didn't like snow fights, but that was usually when he was with his father. He collected a ball of smow, hurling it at Carl's knee, which he managed to hit.
-
Carl looked up at Jordan. This didn't make him feel any better but he forced himself to smile anyways and make it seem as if he was actually happy. He bent down and threw some more snow at Jordan, but this time he wasn't as joyful.
-
See, even if Jordan could be childish, he knew when somebody wasn't feeling okay. He apologetically hopped back to Carl, hugging him tight. "I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to make you feel bad."
-
Carl just shrugged, not bothering to hug him back. He felt like being alone then. "It's okay. You shouldn't feel bad, it's just me being a b----," Carl says flat.
-
"Don't say that word," he scolded in a hushed voice. "That's not a nice word." He put a hand over Carl's mouth. His other arm remained tightly around him.
-
Carl just shrugged again. He moved Jordan's hand off of his mouth. "It's true," Carl mumbled. The bad things are always true...
-
"No, it it's not. That was very bad of me to do, and I am sorry." He clenched his jaw, debating on whether or not he should do something. He used the hand to try and ruffle Carl's hair.
-
Carl gave Jordan a small smile and he poked his nose, trying to block out the harsh voices in his head. "It's fine. You shouldn't have to feel sorry."
-
"I am sorry because now you're sad and don't think that I don't know that." He stared up at him with his puppy eyes. "I'm sorry."
-
"You shouldn't be though. It's not your fault. And just because someone else is sad doesn't mean that you should feel bad." Carl's words were a little harsh when he spoke and Carl cringed at his own harshness.
-
"W-well.." he scoffed. He hid his hurt behind his eyes. "Why don't I stop making a fool of myself, then?" He pulled off, heading to the swings. He had words that were bitter and full of malice, but he refused to vocalize them.
