Arcelio slid into the driver's seat, starting the truck. "Be careful," he instructed, figuring he shouldn't be letting a kid poke at a gun. "I hope not. I don't intend to unless I need to, at least." He sighed; Rayson was the one with a plan here, so he could only hope that's he had a way to figure out where they were.
-
"Oh, you don't?" He glanced back at Rosario, slowing the truck down. "Okay, please sit down first," Arcelio instructed. "I'm Arcelio. Uhm-" He couldn't keep up with the questions, and paused to soak them in. "Yes, Archer lied. Archer just sucks in general... I think Archer is just mad that Ray- er, your dad, doesn't like him anymore. But your dad's going to be fine, and he's going to come find us after he deals with Archer."
(Night ^^) -
"... Yah," Arcelio sighed out. Now that he felt that Rosario and himself were safe, he was getting a knotted feeling in his stomach, worrying about Rayson. He wasn't sure what Archer planned to do to him, but it couldn't be good.
-
"He did." Arcelio turned the truck onto an overpass, pulling them onto the highway. "Archer was the one who took you, and the only way for Rayson to find you was because of Archer's hints. When he stopped getting hints... There wasn't much he could do."
-
Arcelio tapped his thumb against the steering wheel to a random rhythm, wondering how he should tell the boy about his mother. "It was Archer," he ended up stating simply.
-
Arcelio stayed silent for a little while, focusing on driving until the subject was changed. "Mhm. I don't know if she's veru fond of me, though she seems very motherly."
-
(What a badass stabbing a man with his own pen)
"Oh. I haven't tried any of her cooking. But I know your dad knows how to make eggs, at least. I think we're going to go find a motel." -
(Sorry about being gone at random times ;w;)
"Maybe he can make us a cake once we get back home." His stoic expression faded to a frown, wondering if Rayson was still more in love with that girl than he was with him. -
Arcelio looked back at Rosario, then nodded. "Stay buckled up, though," he instructed, turning his gaze back to focus on the road ahead.
He kept an eye out for any motel signs along the highway, and when he finally saw one, he pulled up and parked in a corner. Before he thought to check in, he saw that they had a cafe, and turned back to shake Rosario awake. "Hey, kid... Are you hungry?" -
"Alright, let's go, then. Get us something to eat and then we'll check in... At a motel. We can get some sleep later. And wait for Rayson." He slid out of the truck after grabbing a wad of cash from the glove box, then opened up Rosario's door, holding out his arms to offer to pick him up.
-
"Soon. I'm sure. He won't let us down." Arcelio lifted the boy up, putting his arms under Rosario and shutting the car door. After he had locked the truck up, he walked them to the cafe. It was no longer breakfast, so the meals wouldn't be free, but it didn't matter with the cash stash that Rayson had given them.
-
"Maybe, we'll see," Arcelio said, pushing the door of the cafe open with his shoe. It was self-seating, so he set Rosario down on a booth seat and sat himself down on the other side of the table. There were four menus already set in the middle of the table, so he handed one to Rosario and picked on up for himself to look over.
-
Arcelio sighed when Rosario only set his head down again, settling to order the chicken and fries for him if he ended up falling asleep. He went back to reading the menu, finding something for himself.
His eyebrows knotted when he felt someone slide into the seat next to him, and he looked over, ready to find the blue-haired guy there. When he saw it was Rayson, though, he ignored what he was saying and dropped the menu, throwing his arms around him and hugging him tightly. -
Arcelio was perfectly content hugging Rayson, and continued to hold his arms loosely around the other when he leaned away. "We're both fine. Rosario's going to be so happy to see you when he wakes up," Arcelio mused, smiling softly at Rayson.
-
"Then where will we go--" Arcelio started, but the arrival of the waitress interrupted. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Rosario slowly awaking, and hurriedly told the woman, "Just three waters, thank you."
