Maria hesitated. She wanted to go sort things out with Sebastian but he'd specifically told her not to bother him. She sighed and went to her room, sitting down on the bed and blinking back a few tears. "Looks like it's just you and me tonight, hm?" She whispered sadly, looking down at her stomach.

He rolled over and sat up, knowing she probably was asleep. He snuck out of his room as quiet as a mouse and down the stairs. He got down to her room and snuck in.

Maria looked up just as the first tear fell. Her eyes widened and she quickly wiped it away when saw him, hoping he hadn't seen her crying.

He saw a tear fall from her face and he felt guilt. "Maria...I'm sorry...I though you were asleep...I-I'll leave if you...want me to." He didn't know what to do now.

She sniffed and shook her head. "You don't have to go. I just...I didn't want to b-bother you." Her voice dropped considerably in volume as she spoke. She didn't look at him.

He took a step closer to her bed and felt more guilt flood into him. "Maria...I'm sorry, I didn't...mean it like that please...I'm sorry Maria..." he felt tears slip down his cheeks.

She looked up at him and felt more tears fall. "Don't cry, please don't cry..." Maria longed to go to him, but if he was still upset with her... "It's not your fault." She told him.

"Yes it is! I shouldn't have brought any of that up and I'm sorry... I-I'll just go Maria...I'm sorry for making you upset, I'm sorry for bringing up families..." he started to turn for the door. Everything was his fault, always his fault.

Maria darted up from the bed and grabbed his arm. Her eyes were desperate. "Please don't go." She begged. Almost everyone else she'd ever known had abandoned her at some point. She couldn't let him leave too.

He glanced back at her and had the most hurt expression on his face. "Maria...I know you don't want me here...I can see it..."

"No you can't!" She raised her voice to the point where she was nearly yelling. "Sebastian, I love you, nothing will change that." She took a deep breath. "Please stay with me..."

He flinched when she yelled at him and stayed silent for a moment. He didn't move from his spot and looked frozen in place. Tears still spilled from his face from earlier and they didn't stop. He looked like a child being scolded.

Maria began to cry as well. The expression on his face was so hurt...it killed her to know it was her fault. "I-I'm sorry. You don't have to stay. I'm sorry I yelled at you." She let go of his arm.

Sebastian scrambled out of the room out of fear. A human girl scared the great Sebastian, but he scrambled down to the cellar. Something was wrong with him. He scrambled into the cage and curled up near a corner, feeling the silver burn into him.

Maria collapsed on the bed, sobbing. The way he had looked at her, his eyes so hurt and afraid. It was her. He was afraid of her. She let her tears fall freely, wishing now more than ever that he was here to hug her and tell her it would be alright.
