Grant sighed. Another day walking to the hell hole society calls Highschool. So far it wasn't a bad day. It was relatively well. It would be better if he didn't encounter Russell. Atleast for this morning. His mother bought him a new book from his (current) favorite series, Divergent. Since he was reading while walking, he took slow steady steps. Not like he was in a rush anyway.
-
Russell's shiny-new basketball shoes landed hard on the pavement as he jumped off the bus. He was surrounded by other boys dressed in sports jerseys and expensive shoes. They laughed and mocked each other, shoving in a playful, reckless way. The boy allowed himself a glance at the other students arriving around him. A tall blonde boy passed by with a short red headed girl tucked under his arm. Russell thought back to about a year ago, how his friend had described the glow of their chests as he and his soulmate had kissed for the first time. Russell himself had never given the concept much thought. Life was for living, having fun. He could worry about love later.
-
Well, almost there. He thought he would be late but got there sooner than he thought. The thumb on one hand was used a temporary book mark and held on to it. His other hand raised to his mouth, letting a yawn out on his palm. Then. He froze. Ahead of him was Russell.. And not to mention his big.. Scary.. Friends... "Damnit..." He muttered to himself.
'How do I avoid him? Can I avoid him?' The teen thought. Russell seemed to not be the brightest, in his eyes. The hand that he yawned on slowly dropped to his side. Grant simply raised the book up to cover his face. Then quickly attempted to walk by quickly, hopefully not being seen. -
Russell noticed the walking book out of the corner of his eye. He sighed. That wirey frame and ancient-looking sweater vest could only belong to one nerd. In two long strides he was right behind the slightly shorter boy. "Hey," He snarled, shooting his hand out. He swiped at the book, attempting to knock it from Grant's fingers.
-
While walking he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, just the front doors of the building. Then he heard a familiar voice. Suddenly he felt some force that was on his book. It fell to the concrete with a thud. Grant's eyes were on the book for a second before looking at where the voice came from. Russell?! His eyes widened and be stepped back, startled by his presence.
-
"Whatcha reading this time, Twilight?" Russell's friends laughed as Russel leered down at the obviously startled Grant. Grinning menacingly, he stepped closer, shoving Grant roughly aside and kicking the book. His friends were in stitches. Russell grinned at Grant. "See you in gym, nerd." The group stalked off, entering the school building.
