(People who are factionless don't have a hone. They're sort of the 'outcasts'.)
I walked out of the bathroom, slipping a belt through the skinny jeans. I smiled as I passed the fill-length mirror, liking the new look. Kenna grinned. "Awesome. Better than those plain jeans and old, paint-splattered shirt." She brought out a small bag, abd pushed me into a chair. "Now, for the finishing touches: eyeliner."
I'll admit that I paniked a little. I wasn't used to wearing make-up, as it was a waste of time. I was just going to mess it up later. But I let Kenna put it on anyway. I was supposed to blend in with this place, after all. -
Kenna and I walked out into her living room, me following behind. "Everyone," she announced, in a loud voice. "Here is Maddeline Tyler!" Mrs. Grant, Kenna's mom, clapped enthusiastically. "You look wonderful, Maddie! Like you were made for those clothes."
"Thanks." I smiled. -
A day passed by. I was wrestling with Kenna in her backyard when her dad came out, looking serious. "It's time. Kenna, Maddie, follow me." Kenna and I stood up, brushing dirt off our clothes. "Is today the..." Kenna nodded. "We take our tests today, to see what faction we belong to. Are you ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said. -
