Deep in the woods of eastern England, there dwell two arrays (groups) of hedgehogs who shop, talk, and socialize like humans: Scarletquills and Chromequills.
Your hedgehog can run its own business, too! The options include: Bakery, restaurant, clothing designing, quill painter (like dying your hair).
Ages (youngest to oldest): Hedgeling, Spikestar, Spikemoon, Moss

I am changing the arrays' names to Pinequills and Rubyquills. Any hedgey from the Pinequill array must have a name that is nature-related, and a Rubyquill's name must be galaxy- or gem-related.
Another job is a patrol officer.

Chrysanthemum reluctantly entered her burrow with fresh (unpoisoning) nectar and some ripe berries she had been growing out front. She was sure her grandhedge had been drinking again.
And so he had.
The she-hedge wished her brother, Cosmo, weren't so busy as a patrol so he could help her with August. And she wished August wouldn't drink/smoke so much. She always feared how terrible it was for his body.
MEANWHILE, IN RUBYQUILL TERRITORY...
"Have a nice day," murmured Saturn as he served his final customer for the day. He summed up the acorns (hedgehog currency) he'd received that day, satisfied with the amount. Maybe I'll go prowling tonight. Rustle up some adventure, Saturn thought, turning over the "OPEN" sign so it read "CLOSED. SEE YOU TOMORROW AT DUSK DIGOUT!" -
