I smiled and took a granola bar from the cooler. I laid on my back and watched the clouds pass by.

I looked up from my drawing at my sister then went back to drawing.

I heard the gate slam and sat up, startled. "Hey Taylor!"
I relaxed; it was just Haylee, my best friend. "Oh, hi Haylee. What brings you here?"
Haylee waved her hand. "Oh, the usual: Dad went to the office, Mom's shopping."
Haylee sat beside me and ruffled Mike's hair. "Hey kiddo. What're you up to?" -
I looked up "Drawing" I said and then fixed my hair I didn't like Haylee she was trying to steal my sister. I went back to drawing andtried to ignore her.

"Haylee, what are you doing here? I thought you were packing for that family trip to New York?"
"Nah, I finished yesterday. They thought New York would make up for not being able to go to Mexico City." Haylee snorted. "As if!"
I smiled nervously. "Yeah. About Mexico, I-"
"Taylor, Mrs. Peterson called; she wants you to babysit her kids next Friday night."
I groaned. "Mom, you know I can't do that! My class leaves next Thursday."
