Thread Topic: is atheism a religion?

Atheism is only a religion in the sense that it is not an airtight philosophy and therefore causes a conscious participant to grapple with certain questions that arise from adherrance to philosophy. But much less so than what we know to be religion. The only question you have to ask as an atheist to come to grips with the philosophy is the question of where right and wrong come from. The easy answer of course is that right and wrong come from nowhere. But that is not a very satisfying answer. It is not very satisfying to say that Hitler was wrong to slaughter 12 million people because mankind determined it was wrong, or that murder and rape are illegal not because they are wrong, but because they are inconvenient to an orderly society.
However, I do not acknowledge that atheism is a religion. Atheism is the answer to all the questions religion cannot answer, in my opinion. The only question that religion even remotely succeeds to answer is what is right and wrong, and where right and wrong come from. Yet religion often fails by that token as well, because you will find situations in life where your religious morals may either lead you in a direction that may be more damaging than helpful, or those morals may not be able to guide you in any one direction at all. -

Aotheosm is a religion. Its a belief. Religion is a view on how the world was created and run. Everyone has an opinion.

Atheism is not a religion. People always misunderstand that it is a religion. But its not.

It was an attempt at an analogy. Black is a subtractive mixture of colors. CMYK, anyone?
