First off, this post is NOT meant to start an argument. It's just a thought.
So the devil would be pretending to be God, performing these works that we know that Jesus Christ did, thus, in the post there is implication that Jesus is the devil. But when one reads the Bible, he will find that Jesus healed the sick, drove out demons, gave new life to the dead, and turned just a few loaves of bread and a few fish into more than enough for thousands of people to eat. All of these can be interpreted as "magic tricks."
However, Jesus gave us prayers. He taught us how to pray to God and to shun the devil. He gave us what is considered to be the most perfect prayer, the Our Father (The Lord's Prayer).
"Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen." Matthew 6:9-13
He told us not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery, and basically, not to sin. He spoke of the evils sin holds. He defended the repetant and showed love for all of humanity. He was angered when people used the Temple as a market instead of a place of worship for God.
If someone did all of this, how could he be associated with the devil? The devil himself attempted to tempt Jesus, however, Jesus held strong and refused to sin against himself, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. -
I posted that picture to create obscure thought and potential new ideas. It wasn't meant to start an argument either.
The devil is noted with doing things to tempt people and cause chaos and confusion. He may enjoy the suffering of others, but in gamer terms, he is Chaotic evil. He does whatever he likes, but usually for malicious intentions.
If he were to want people to believe he is Good, then he would heal the sick. It would make him look better and create a larger follower base for himself.
Who would be better at driving out demons that the devil himself? God and the angels out number them 2 to 1 and yet they still have trouble with demons.
Resurrecting the dead? That already sounds more evil than good.
And multiplying food is more of an act of gluttony than a divine miracle.
=================================
He taught us a prayer and told us it was good. We believe it is good solely on his word that it is so. The prayer itself literally translates to, "Dad, I love you. tell me what to do. Give me stuff and treat me how I treat others. And forgive me if I do wrong."
That in itself actually follows more closely to Laveyan Satanism than Christianity. (Food for thought)
======================
"He told us not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery."
Kill
Deuteronomy 21: 18-21
If your son doesn't listen to you, take him to the elders, and have him killed.
Steal
Whilst I couldn't find anything against stealing biblically. May I also note that the satanist bible wards against stealing as well?
Adultery
Deuteronomy 20:10-14
If a town doesn't want to make peace with you. Kill the men, keep the livestock and valuables, and rape the women.
===================
Loving humans, and not wanting people to sell things in the church aren't really one way or the other.
===================
"The devil himself tried to tempt Jesus"
And if you believe the bible, then God sent himself to earth to sacrifice himself to himself to forgive us of the original sin he originally cursed us with.
===================
And as for your last paragraph, isn't that what this is all about? The devil trying to convince us that he's good? Seems like if it's true, then it's working. -
Ok, just stating my belief. But if I were athiest, I would get what you mean by this.
We dont believe Satan has a body, so this wouldnt be possible...:P -
All of the Scripture passages you have quoted do sound quite barbaric, as do their interpretations. When reading them, however, one must remember that Dueteronomy is in the Old Testament and not the New Testament. The Old Testsament is before Jesus. Christ did reinforce the Ten Commandmants, three of which are against killing, stealing, and adultery. The death penalty, which Dueteronomy 21:10-14;18-21 seems to portray is now against the Catholic, and I'm sure any other Christian, religion.

The entire thread is questioning the validity of Jesus. So wouldn't the old testament be the only thing we could use? And Jesus also stated that we should not ignore anything in the old testament.
Satan was an angel. The favored angel. And they are believed to show up all the time. Satan has hundreds of stories about him coming to earth in physical form. Or possessing a body.
Even in the Garden of Eden, Satan took a physical form to tempt people. -
The story of the Garden of Eden is meant to be taken symbolically. But yes, what you said is true. I know a few people, priests included, who believe that Satan actually possessed Hitler.
-
That's not nearly as scary as the people I've heard say that Jesus was Hitler.
-
Dude, if Jesus was Hitler, I'd immediately crawl up in a ball and question my insanity. I mean, if someone who is supposedly God turned out to be the man that killed millions of innocent people, that'd suck.
-
*sanity.....sorry. I really hate autocorrect.
-
MY TIME TO SHINE! God killed THOUSANDS of INNOCENT people. Or so the bible says so...
-
Kills by God in the Bible: Around 2 million
Kills by Satan: 10
I wuv chu Satan. -
@Rascal I bet you haven't even read the Bible. Wouldn't be surprised, considering that most Christians don't know what the f--- they're worshiping.
-
I've read almost the entire Bible, thank you very much.
-
Then like almost all other Christians, you didn't understand a DAMN thing you were reading and the stuff you did understand you picked and chose whate you liked and didn't like and believed whatever you felt like believing.
Right about now would the time to curl up in a ball and question your sanity.
