If you want to play the numbers game, think of the possibility of the big bang theory actually occuring.

This is a few posts late, but she can share her morals if she wants to, just as you can. And besides, how would you destroy her in any way, when you don't even know where she lives.
As for the actual discussion at hand, I'd actually like to find another planet like this andconquerexplore it. -
Bob...?
Look: I see your point. You have made it painfully obvious where you stand, but, from a neutral point of view, this is what I see from this.
You assume that everyone is wrong, do you not? That believing in a "wizard" is wrong and idiotic in itself?
You can disagree, but basically, that's how you're acting. It's true, religion is flawed, but there is no right answer in this case. God may exist, he may not. It is not up to you to point out the flaws, to try to change her mind. Not only is it rude to try and disprove her opinion, but it is also inconsiderate: she has a right to belive in what she wants, whether it's because she''s a mindless follower or truly believes in religion. -
Brit: The numbers game. \=1:1
An infinite amount of space, divided by an infinitly improbable event, equals 1 out of 1. So under this logic, God does exist. But he has an infinite amount of equals, so what makes him special?
Appay: I have been arguing religion on this website for nearly 2 years. Every wave of people I debate with seems to be more and more stereotypical than the last. Seeing her simply shut her eyes and practically state that she was going to ignore the facts, just hit a whole new level of depressing. I snapped when I said that. My intent at the time was to say that I would find her when she was on, and continue to badger her with the opposing side to the debate, even long after she had dropped the conversation.
Nikki: So, I'm an egotistical, self centered, jerk? Good. Finally you admit it. I am being a complete ass of myself. Right? I am telling you all that your opinion is wrong and that if you follow my teachings that you will see the truth and live a better life. You dont enjoy this, do you? You dont enjoy me telling you how ignorant you are for your beliefs or how petty people like you are. Congradulations, you have just been an atheist for a day. I have lost friends, family, and loved ones simply because I dont have a god. Me being a complete a--hole was the latest in a long line of different attempts to communicate a small segment of one of the reasons I am apposed to religion. It's not the god. You cant hate something that doesnt exist. It's the followers. And no matter how much you claim not to be one of them, you still cant claim neutrality. How can you say that you see both sides if you've only lived one? How? -
And Angelic, I'm stating that the statistics are there, the science to back it up is there, the facts state what all is required and the probability is actually very probable. That isnt blind faith. It's common sense, and there is a very big difference.

From what I've seen, no matter what you believe in, you're a total dumb--- through someone's point of view.
-
Interesting, the research I found expresses that the number was almost exactly zero.

But only one side holds political influence, controls the schools, and is considered actual people. There are also laws saying that atheists cant run for political positions. Not to mention, statistically, atheists are the most hated group in America.
Look it up. It'd be funny if it werent so true. -
Atheists can't run for political positions? WTF, what happened to freedom of religion (which includes lack of). Really.
-
America's been a huge ass hypocrite for a long time now. :/

I loved this video -
tongue AdvancedIn some places, atheists are barred from running. And even if an atheist got on the ballot, they'd still be attacked mercilessly to the point where they wouldn't have much chance of winning. This happened to JFK because he was Catholic. It's happening now to Mitt Romney because he is Mormon. And while we're on the subject of Mormonism, more Americans would accept a Mormon president than an atheist president. That really scares me that Americans will more readily accept someone who comes from a radical sect of Christianity that believes Jesus left tablets in upstate New York than someone who chooses not to believe in something that simply can't be proven. This is what's wrong with American democracy in a nutshell, but that's for another forum.

tongue AdvancedAlso regarding JFK, many of you are going to say that my statement is false because he did become President. JFK didn't actually win the election- he stole it with the help of his mob buddies in Chicago and LBJ's cronies in Texas, who stuffed the ballots with fake names. The vote in Illinois and Texas was extremely close. Nixon would have won if not for those connections. Then of course Russia and the U.S. would nuke each other into oblivion and Lee Harvey Oswald would murder Mayor McCheese.

Look...bob, don't people have a right to beleive in god? Since they do, they all would argue with what you are saying even if science backs it up.
-
tongue AdvancedYes, people have the right to believe what they want. People also have the right to point out that those particular beliefs don't make sense. No one here is telling you to become an atheist. Just be aware that the existence of God is not a crystal-clear, absolute truth.
