Okay, I've been reading through these threads, and I wanted to post part of how I feel.
I know and respect that people believe different things. I personally don't believe in god, and here's (part of) why: I hate the thought that there is someone that is so superior to me, that they control everything that happens to me. If I die, it's gods doing? I feel like that's not how life should work. You die because there's something someone did wrong some where along the line.
Also, I don't like that he judges people. Well, according to some people. There are these rules that he's made up, that people have to follow. And if they don't they go to hell. Doesn't that seem ridiculous? If god is supposed to be this perfect being, why would he judge people based on their beliefs and things they do? And even if he were to do this, doesn't it seem a bit harsh to send them to the burning flames of hell for the rest of eternity? It just doesn't make sense to me.
I would still like to point out that I respect other people's beliefs, I just disagree with them. -

It's kind of annoying when people believe that God judged people just based on relgion. I think he judges people on personality and what they do throughout their life, and even then, we're judgemental too and if we had his position, we would probably be doing the same. That probably sounded bad, but imagine it worded better and that's how I think.
I also don't really believe in a Hell. I believe we continue to be reincarned until we get it right, then we get to go to Heaven.
But I approve and respect your belief :) -

I agree on parts of what Kaitie said, and that is when God judges people on their personality and their life, not religion.
What I believe is that when we die and God chooses our place, is that he listens to the people who are praying for us and he looks through the persons life and personality to choose were they're going. I believe in both Heaven and hell and I do think hell is scary but some people deserve to go there. Bin Laden for example, or the woman who is trying to ruin my uncle's life. They deserve punishment like hell -
But for the rest of forever? I don't think anyone deserves that. Prison (or something similar) for life. Yes. Maybe even the death penalty, depending on if you believe in that. But to spend the rest of forever in agonizing pain?
I feel like putting someone inn hell is like fighting fire with fire. Which is the same as revenge. And isn't that some sort of "sin"? Isn't it wrong to take revenge on someone? Revenge on someone for sinning is its own sin, I would think.
That's just how I feel. I honestly don't mean any offense. -
Heaven is complete presence of God and Hell is complete absence of God. Heaven isn't like "Oh! We get to eat bonbons all the time and be the favorites desu!" God doesn't judge out of hatred. He is all good and holy so naturally he doesn't want evil and corruption around him.
Accepting that Jesus Christ paid the price for your sin and repenting of sin is the path to heaven. All sin is is destructive behavior. It's destructive to ourselves. We'll never be perfect, and he doesn't expect us to be. He just wants us to try, and admit when we're wrong. Some Christians are self-righteous, but that's who the person is, not God.
So yeah. Just a fact from my religion. -
I get where you're coming from. Or rather, I see see where's your coming from.
But why did Jesus pay the price for our sins anyway? Probably just a small detail in the matters of religion. But honestly, I'll take whatever coming for me for anything I do. And isn't it just like the natural consequences of things? If you swear at school, you get in trouble. If you murder someone, you go to jail. There are natural consequences for things, why should there have to be more than that?
And why in the world would I want to be perfect? Or even try for it? Our flaws are what make us who we are. I feel like if god had his way (if he were to exist), everyone would be the same. Everyone would be "next-to-perfect". I like who I am. So should everyone else. And I don't see why someone would want to change that about someone. -
Well in my beliefs He doesn't expect us to be perfect, He determines if we deserve to go to Heaven or hell
